Candles, how we love thee.

One of the first questions asked by a novice Top, once they have played to the edges of their skill i.e. whipping, spanking usually. Is about waxing.

I am sure all of us, at one time, or another have had hot candle wax drip on us. Some of us, have dumped entire jars of heated wax on themselves, not gonna mention any names... *cough cough* A lot of times, this accidental waxing, causes fear, and emotional scarring to the act of waxing for erotic pleasure. However, I assure you that , when used correctly, waxing is no more painful then a brisk spanking, and certainly less so then a caning. The tricks are in choosing the right kind of candles, and knowing a little bit about physics and heat.

NOTE: once again, please do not try anything I discuss without supervision, or at least knowledge and guidance.
NOTE 2: This is for you Top's who don't know how to do something. NEVER , EVER, EVER practice something on your Sub, no matter how willing. A lot of what I know, and perform is considered "edge" play, and these techniques should ALWAYS be practiced on yourself, or inanimate objects first.

So, Dom, you say, How do I choose the right candle? Most novice Tops believe that they should go out and buy expensive candles, colored, or scented. In fact, these are the wrong candles to use. Most of these types of candles are made from Beeswax, which burns both hotter, and longer then cheaper candles. The ideal ones are Parafin candles, such as white votive candles, or jewish sabbath candles. These have a much lower melting point then beeswax, and the temperature is easier to control with distance.

I will not go into details about techniques, unless specifically asked to, but suffice it to say that basic physics apply here to using the candle for a waxing. i.e. the farther the glob of wax travels from the flame, the cooler it gets. So, judge distances and heat on YOURSELF before ever going near a Sub with a candle.

one more word of warnin. When working with any open flame, either waxing, or fireplay, be VERY aware of where the actual flame is, so that you do not accidentally burn something you don't intend to.

remember the Top Motto: "No unintentional pain"

I hope this little freak session makes up for my previous spilling of emotion!
