Trip! Trip! Triiiip!!

I'm off to the States tomorrow, for my niece's wedding. And after, I'm meeting up with gammameta and we're gonna go adventuring, and I'm so excited!! Yaaayyyyy!

I already have a shopping list as long as my arm, and I'm packing light, because I'm also very optimistically hoping I might find some clothes while I'm there. Primarily because I don't actually have a proper dress for the wedding. Yikes. I'll pack a "this'll do"-backup and hope for the best.

I haven't been in the States since 2009. I haven't been on a plane since my honeymoon in 2013. I'm uncharacteristically nervous about it. Not because I'm scared of anything happening. Mostly stupid things like, "what if I booked the wrong day?" And, duh, I've checked 20 times. The date has not changed. I'm not missing my flight in an hour, because it is tomorrow! God, Tink, chill!

I've applied for my ESTA, my passport is valid until 2019, there's money in my account, I have an extra credit card just in case. I need to find my converter for my various chargers, but even if I can't find it, I can buy a new one at the airport. Aaand I just checked in. I'm fine.

I can't decide whether to bring my laptop or not. I know it'll be overkill when I have my iPad with me, but I know I'll miss it if I don't have it. It's only ten days. I guess I'll let carry-on circumstances decide: If there's room,  it gets to come. Otherwise I'll just have to deal.

I've booked three different hotels for my three nights in Atlanta, which seems excessive, but hear me out: I'll be arriving late at night. Before I get my luggage and pick up my rental car, it'll be in the middle of the night. I am picking the closest acceptable airport hotel I can find. Day two, I'll drive up to Marietta, where the wedding will be, but the closest hotel to the wedding is a freakin' Hilton at over DKK 1.000,- per night. I'll stay there for the third night, because again, I don't want to drive too far after the party. But I can stay at a reasonably priced hotel in South Marietta on night two. Now I just need to figure out if Hilton will let me check in early, or if I'll be going to a wedding with my luggage in the trunk... I guess I'll call and ask when I get there.

Meanwhile, I've been working my ass off to get at least somewhat caught up with my invoicing. I think I've managed fairly well. I still have a small pile left, but nothing compared to the epic amount of paperwork I started off with. It's funny how my success criteria kept creeping further down, though. At first it was like, "invoice ALL the things!" then it became, "ok, let's just get to where it's not embarrassing anymore..." As things stand, I'm halfway through September, which means that the work was done a month ago when I get home on October 17th. I can live with that, although I'd like to get at least a little more caught up than that. I'm still plugging away, and plan to continue until the last minute. I might still succeed with "ALL the things" (albeit unlikely) but I'm satisfied with my effort at this point. And more importantly, so is my husband. :)

Now all I have left to do is pack my bags and show up to the airport on time. Tomorrow. It's still tomorrow, Tink. Don't forget your passport.
