So, I found a bug in my pants this morning.
I rolled out of bed (much too late, as per usual), got half-dressed in a tank top and a pair of jeans while stumbling to the bathroom and sat myself down on the porcelain throne. I had just finished with no.1, when I felt something tickling my thigh. I yanked down the jeans, and sure enough, there was something crawling on me, inside my pants!! I flicked it off and it sought refuge under the toilet, so I didn't much feel like hanging out there any longer. I'm pretty bleary-eyed in the morning, and I wasn't wearing my glasses, but I'm pretty sure the bug was some type of beetle, rather than - horror of horrors - a spider. I was elongated, black, and very fast. I still have the creepy-crawlies all over...
This week marked a big change at work, because I cancelled our subscription to the invoicing system we've been using for the past 2½ years and am taking a chance on a new program. We start implementing next month. It's scary, because the decision is pretty much all on me, but I was growing increasingly dissatisfied with the old system, and I think the new system will make things easier in many ways. I hope.
Last night I made tomato soup from scratch with fresh tomatoes. Or like, less-than-fresh, which was how I came up with the idea to try. We had a bunch of the kind that's kinda wrinkly, so the hind-brain didn't consider them edible, but the housewife brain thought it a waste to throw them out. It. Was. Delicious! Even Sven made yummy noises, and he is 1) not that into soup, really (he is wrong and he is learning) and 2) more concerned with the lack of meat when I told him my plans for dinner. We compromised by making him bacon that he could sprinkle on top. - An inspired choice, as it turned out. I'd never tried it before, and I just winged it, so I was super proud of how it turned out! Next project: Homemade barbecue ribs. (Although I might cheat and take a peak in my Fried Green Tomatoes Cookbook. Just 'cuz, y'know. "It's in the sauce.")
digitalwave is selling a bunch of stuff right here:
http://digitalwave.livejournal.com/599860.html#cutid1 She's an absolute sweetheart, and in much need of some cash, so if you feel like you might be interested in a new handbag or table cloth or fannish things like books, dvds, posters, please take a look at her selection. I bought two bags from her, and they arrived promptly and in perfect condition. She was also extremely forthcoming as to how to mark the package, which is good to know for us euro-people. :)
