I'm so, so sorry. Just reading this made me want to cry. I'll pray for her.

I think if I were in a situation where there really was no hope, I'd want a greeting that said goodbye. I'd rather have honest grief than false bravado. I guess you never really know for sure until you're in that situation yourself though.

This is a beautiful post, and I instantly feel sad because you are sad, and this girl sounds like someone who deserves to live a very long and shiny life, but instead she gets this. That's really fucked up.

I'm with you on the whole pragmatic thing, but I guess you already know that. I'd rather have a honest goodbye than fake optimism, but there are a lot of people who just don't deal that way.

This is very sad to read, it really puts things into perspective. I'm 26 as well and I'm grateful for what I got,even if I seem to complain a lot, because life's so fragile and can be changed any second. This shows just that.
I think you did well, by saying goodbye to her instead of offering her a greeting that's basically a lie.
