So day 4 of Nano. How's everyone else doing? I've run into my first sort of roadblock. So I'm just going to post an excerpt to distract me. It's a horror novel titled "The Artist" (for now at least).
The artist slowly unlocked the door at the back of the shop. His head pounded as the whispers echoed in his ear. They were getting more insistent, more demanding. The small room was dark, lite only by a cracks in the blacked out windows. Inside there were two tables with a couple of unfinished sculptures resting on top. Tools were strew messily across the floor and and work benches. The shadows hadn't quite risen yet. He both dreaded and looked forward to when they would decide to visit. Fright and awe always accompanied their arrival. With their help he could things he'd never be capable of, but if he were to ever anger them certain death awaited him.
“She's not ready yet.” The man closed the door behind him and moved through the dark with familiarity.
“There's still more work to be done.” The whispers were harsh. The darkness felt heavy around him. He found Betty, his unfinished work of art, laying on her side on the table to his right. Exactly where he'd left her. He picked up the small 3 foot marble sculpture and ran his hands over the cool stone.
Feel free to tell me how much it sucks, lol.
PS. I'm pretty sure I have those of y'all that are participated added, but if not. I'm travelsize. : )
