Summary: Even though Taemin lets Minho go, can he still believe that they'll always be together?

Everything felt natural for us to always be together, we’ve known each other since kindergarten to high school, and became lovers in our late middle school years. Sure, we fought a lot and went through tough times but we never left each other. So wasn’t it okay to believe that we’ll always be together? Taemin thought sadly as he walked up a grassy small hill, holding a bouquet of flowers as he began to reminisce under the cloudy grey sky.

“Taem,” the name came out softly from Minho’s lips. “Hmm?” Taemin responded, too involved with the game he was playing, he could hear Minho moving to sit upwards on his bed.

“Taem, listen to me, pause the game for a moment,” Taemin had a feeling that Minho was going to tell him something that was important by his tone of voice, so Taemin paused the game and turned to him. “I’m going to study abroad… Should I go?”

This question shocked Taemin a bit, he looked down to the game controller in his hands and said, “But haven’t you always wanted to go study abroad?”

“Yeah, but…” Minho trailed off his sentence, gently grabbing Taemin’s chin to lifting it up to make eye contact with him, “won’t you feel lonely without me?”

Taemin quickly scoffed and jerked away from his hands, “of course not! I’m happy for you, besides it’s not like you’re going to live there forever.” Even though Taemin said that his chest still throbbed in pain and he knew he was only trying to comfort himself, but this was the chance that Minho needed to complete his studies in the big business world, Taemin thought that he couldn’t hold Minho back.

“Alright,” Minho let out a long, depressing sigh and kissed the young blonde one’s forehead, “if you say so.”

After months with Minho, Taemin felt like regretful for letting him go, everyday at school, Taemin would go to the rooftop but the results were always the same: Minho wasn’t up there waiting for Taemin.

The memories of Minho and him playfully flirting up here, feeding each other lunch, skipping class together as they played hooky, watching the clouds float by as they lay on our backs… Even memories from they were in middle school and grade school came running through his head, the images felt so strong and vivid, it was like he could see Minho sitting before him smiling as he called Taemin’s name but as he tried reach out to touch him, he grabbed nothing.

Every day, Minho never failed to call Taemin once a day even though there was a seventeen hour time difference, they would talk about countless things.

“I wish I was with you…” Taemin said quietly through the phone, his heart was throbbing with pain, even though Minho’s voice felt so close, Taemin couldn’t reach out to him. “Don’t say that, Minnie,” Minho tried to comfort his lover, but his tone of voice was also in agony, “you are with me. In my heart and memories.”

The color red spread across Taemin’s face as he flushed, he felt embarrassed but was completely happy to hear that, “but I want to see you within my reach…”

“Then… Go outside and look up,” Minho suggested in a perky tone, Taemin did as instructed. “Okay, now what?” Taemin asked, curious of what Minho might say next.

“We’re under the sky together, right? So as long as we’re under the sky, we’ll definitely see each other again!”

Taemin chuckled softly and smiled at the thought, somehow looking at the sky did make Taemin feel a bit better for letting Minho go, he felt like their bond became stronger in a way, but that was the last call Taemin had gotten from Minho…

Taemin resurfaced from his memories, the tears slowly dripped from his pale face, he finally reached the grave and so he set the flowers down. When his tears started to fall, it began to sprinkle rain for a few minutes. He wiped his tears and watched the grey clouds move away. “Sorry, Minho, if I told you to stay… You probably would have never gotten into an accident over there…” The wind gently brushed against Taemin’s face as he spoke aloud, then he smiled lightly as he gazed up into the sky. “But I still believe that we’re still under the same sky… So we’ll meet again, right?”

The bright sun began to peek over the dark clouds that were drifting away…
