When I was a kid in school, I was the one who had to sit by herself in the lunch room while other kids would periodically come up and say something to make me feel like a piece of shit. BUT DECADES TOO LATE!

MEK AND MRS-SIMIAN OVERHEAR "TEAM PARIAH" IN DELI ONCE. EASY SPOT: KIDS WEARING BLACK NON-TRENDY CLOTHES, ETC. TALKING SAME OLD CRUEL CASTE SYSTEM OF AMERICAN HIGH SCHOOL, SAME AS GENERATIONS GONE BY.

BUT SIMIANS STOP BY BOOTH ON WAY OUT TO SAY, "HEY GUYS, STICK TO GUNS! BE WHO WANT TO BE. BECAUSE WHEN HIGH SCHOOL OVER, WILL RECOGNIZE CHOICES AND OPPORTUNITIES OTHERS WON'T. UNCONSIDERED LIFE NOT WORTH LIVING."

AND BECAUSE OF KIDS THEY WERE, REALLY APPRECIATED WORDS. WORLD COULD DO WITH MORE YOUNG OUTCASTS WHEN GROWN UP, THOUGH PRICE IN CRUELTY EARLY ON SEEM TOO HIGH: SIMIANS SEE SO MANY COOKIE-CUTTER MEDIA-ZOMBIE CONSUMERS COME OUT OF SCHOOLS, WEEP FOR FUTURE.

I like this: "COOKIE-CUTTER MEDIA-ZOMBIE CONSUMERS." That is exactly what young people are groomed to be. Brain dead consumers, afraid of being the kind of 'real' and 'dimensional' they see in the outcasts, etc. We HIDE behind consumerism. We are trained to become ADDICTED to consuming, to HIDE, or face humiliation. That is EXACTLY our options --- to buy a good facade, or to feel what it means to be human/naked, and see how alone that is ( ... )

Yeah, culturally, women exercise a different kind of power, have a different kind of sovereign, than men. Men have 'good ol' boys' networks that will prevent success in fields you care about, but they won't make it 'personal.'

Women are the 'relationship' divas. They know where the juggler is --- they network, and honestly, if it weren't for gossip circles, they'd have very little power in the world at all. right after columbine, my mom started to worry if gil (my soon to be husband) was ok. "i mean, he wears a trenchcoat, and likes gory movies, and plays violent videogames..."

i said "mom? why is this just now a concern for you? i mean, you've liked him fine for the last 2 years."

she can be such a flake sometimes.
