Self-Promotion

Sep 30, 2010 17:27

I've done a bit more self-promotion today and I've come to grips with the ugly truth: I can pump up anybody, but I get shy about myself. Sophie has said the push of the book will happen in a few months, when she will be promoting all the Fey books. I'm grateful for that because I feel like I suck at doing this for myself. I'll take ( Read more... )

it's our upbringing. whether we realize it or not we were raised in the southern mindset of forced humility. if you didn't get it in your home, you got it from school. knowing and voicing your true worth and abilities is evil and ungodly.

that this is a regional thing was especially evident to me when my friend T was to make a speech about herself as she was running for club prez. she couldn't say anything nice about herself at all. i was running against her so i took that opportunity to show what i was made of: i told everyone they had to vote for her and then listed her qualifications(of which she has many). i know it's just a college club thing, but it's a microcosm of life.

look your sithly self in the mirror and get used to telling yourself what exactly you are made of. you have awesome skills. own up to them!

Ok, tell me something. I'm not a big vampire fan. I hate all that blood sucking, doesn't interest me at all. Hate Anne Rice, was probably the only person on EARTH that hated Interview with a Vampire. Don't have ANY desire to see Twilight. But your book intrigues me with the intricacy of the plot and the suspense. What do you think? Will I be completely disgusted by all the neck biting?

There's surprisingly little neck-biting in 'The Chalice.' It starts out traditionally, then goes off on a tangent, so I think you'll like it. I hope so.

ok I'm sold. I'm going to go look up the link to order my autographed copy :) And I've been promoting your book around work so maybe having a copy of it will encourage people to buy it :)

Tell you what. You tell me what I should be doing for everyone else and I'll just duplicte those efforts for you :oP

Seriously, I'll definitely want to pick your brains in the not too distant future because it's pretty clear that you're a genius at promotions and if there's anything you think I should be doing, just throw an email in my general direction and we'll sort something out.

You give me more credit than I deserve. I have someone ready to launch a website and some ideas surrounding the reviews that come in. When I can put into words what my brain is processing, I'll write you an email.

And thank you. :)

If there is anything I can do, beyond what I'm doing, let me know. If you find there are independent book stores in the ATL area you want me to take flyers to or what not, I can do that.
