Here is a list of exciting things that have been happening in my life lately:
1. I have been to Bangkok. To any J1/ Sec 4 taking Geog reading this, I really suggest you visit one (LDC) primate city at least at the end of your J1 year or at least before CT2. It is worth it - seeing your urbanisation and population notes come to life, giving you case material with your own eyes instead of trying to memorise it in your notes - it is worth it. It is actually pure joy to realise that Bangkok and etc are not mere examples for you to use, but cities, huge cities with their own identities, which your notes are based on and derived from.
Also, I love seeing the non-tourist side of Bangkok - seeing the rush in how the market stall owners move their goods away from the track when the train signals its arrival/ departure (primate city problems), the fresh guava and pomelo at the floating markets, Chatuchak weekend market, a wet market (wow how many markets did I go to), the rich side of Bangkok and Thai tourism and videos of Thai weddings. I hope Nite comes to Singapore soon, haha it will be nice to bring him/ his family around the non-tourist side of Singapore as well. It does enrich your visiting experience - witnessing the non-tourist side of Thailand, I mean. Weaving through traffic, looking like you own the road while walking in front of the motorbike and gradually realising asserting your way through is the only way you will ever be able to cross the endless stream of traffic, both human and vehicular - small things like this - help you remember what Thai life is actually like, and not as a tourist.
2. I have finished two seasons of Doctor Who. Yes, I am slow, but in my defense, I was away in Bangkok busy shopping my ass off. I have also come to the conclusion that when TV shows kill off a character I will be unable to sleep for a few nights - ironically, not the creepy gas masks or Daleks or the Beast keep me up, but the fact that a character dies off or is separated from the main character. Which made me not watch Reichenbach Fall in my Sherlock re-watch - I know I'll be unable to sleep.
3. Grad Night. To sum it up, I was really sleepy, some people looked really good, and I am in dire need of contacts. Also, it was nice to take pictures with people I like. And seeing the band classroom people again, old batchmates, etc. :) I didn't mind prom at all. It was a rather nice way to end the year (aside from the occasionally too-loud music which Husain managed to doze his way through).
4. Looking for Alaska. It was relatively meh compared to say, Paper Towns or An Abundance of Katherines. And does John Green follow a sort of template when he writes? Nerdy guy with few/ no friends, hot girl with funky name, he falls in love with her, and after a while, vice versa. Little boring, to say the least.
5. A sort of internal competition between two people that makes me question each of them and perhaps entirely reverse my opinion of them which I will somehow cryptically elaborate on in perhaps another post.
6. I have colourful leather string. I love colourful leather string.
7. Right. I also have mild food poisoning, as does my dad.
Okay bye.
