Coming in on Day 2 of Merigreenleaf's LJ Game means I don't have to provide 15 random facts! Yay! That's all right, this whole thing's basically nothing but irrelevant facts.
Like today! Wherein I am to explain the meaning behind my LJ name. And..it's pretty much that I like the Oz books. The Baum ones, anyway. I've never read the others. I have a sneaking suspicion that I'd be unable to judge them fairly. I can watch 80s cartoons and 90s shows and all manner of old fairy tales get ripped apart for the sake of pop culture, quick movies, and various authors' substitute therapy (though Deerskin still annoyed me, for very different reasons), but the Oz books? That's my childhood, there. I don't think it's fair to ask any author to replicate that, so I don't.
Anyway. Yeah. Hence the Tingirl thing, because also I am substituting limbs with tools, and my heart is not very good. I *would* have picked Patchwork Girl, who is one of the greatest characters ever, childhood fondness aside, but as I recall that one was taken when I picked my name. I hope you've done a lot with your LJ, not-me PG! More than I would have, anyway. It wouldn't be hard.
I'm sure you all feel enlightened now.
Of somewhat more relevance to anyone trying to get in touch with me! We are currently being hammered by the eightththth* hand of the storm that slammed into the Gulf this week. Which means my satellite internet access is spotty. Which means I typed this in Abiword before posting, so hopefully it has a little less of that typoriffic flavor than the usual internet post, but also means I may be a bit slower than usual on receiving/replying to emails. Patience! The storm must surely break!
*Fun fact: Spellcheck thinks "Anthiathia" is a good subsistute for "eightththth". Hyperbole is lost on Spellcheck. And the heck is "Anthiathia"?
