so... despite my rather relieved disappointment that none of the schools picked me to be a relief teacher, i found myself in the shoes of being a sunday school teacher. this admittedly wasn't as stressful as facing the prospect of waking up at 6am to go to a government school, but still! facing those kids brings me joy & great frustration. lol!!
to hear the things they say...
KID1 : TEACHER TEACHER!! is it true ah... my friend say ah... snails are EVIL leh!
KID2: YAH! my friend ALSO SAY!
KID1: SHADDUP lah i havent say finish yet!
KID2: AIYAH i just say my friend say also
ME: *Stunned* ah? whaaat? dont quarrel k? you mean snails the super slow things issit?
KID1: YAH! my friend SAY ah, if you pick up a snail and look at it, you get CURSED for life!
ME:*stunned*
KID2: NO LAH! you say WRONGLY already lah! MY FRIEND SAY if you step on a snail THREE TIMES in your life, you MATI already!!
*kids proceed to squabble over who is correct, and the other kids join along*
KID3: not mati lah! its DIE!
KID2&4: mati is SAME as die lah, you stupid!
ooooh......the things they learn in school....
they even quarrel over stuff like proper use of words. somehow it doesnt make them sound really civilized, though i'm sure that's the aim of the education cirriculum in singapore...
* kids fill in a cloze passage on mahjong paper provided by sister alice*
*kid1 writes the word "shit" *
KID2: AYE its not SHIT lah you idiot! SHIT is wrong!
KID3: YAH! CANNOT WRITE SHIT
*both me and sis alice heave a sigh of relief.*
KIDS2&3: its wrong! must write FAECES LAH YOU.
*faints*
lol! that aside, its really fun to play blow wind blow with them :) :) and they are really adorable, innocent in a shockingly naive way. (given how awful some of their vocabulary sounds hahahahaa)
