“Sssshhhheeerrrrkkkk beep Ok, Changmin ssshhheeeerrrrrrkkkkk beep”
“What are you two doing? You’re in public area ding dongs-what the hell?” Junsu voice appeared out a sudden. Changmin looked up and stood up, “Well-we’re getting paid-soon. We’re training for our big mission tomorrow” he grinned with a nod, “I’m getting yummy meals by the hour!” Junsu crossed his arms, “What’s Yoochun getting?”
“I dunno. Porn magazines or something” he shrugged.
“Of what?”
“I don’t know-dogs? DUH. Women with huge junk in their fronts they call breasts”
Junsu stomped his foot and walked toward Yoochun, “Oh, you’re not getting any freaking magazine! You’re coming home now! Say goodbye to the world cause you won’t be seeing it for a while mister!” Junsu took Yoochun by the ear and dragged him all across the out door restaurant. Men, women, children laughing and giggling about. Changmin couldn’t help but laugh as well, “Ah….I’m glad I don’t have a girlfriend” he smiled.
“Changmin-ssi?”
Changmin turned around and saw it was his college room mate, he blinked before speaking, “Ying? Wha-I thought you were out of the country once you graduated” he smiled. She chuckled, “Well, I came back for a vacation-how-why would you be in a place like this? I’d think you’d be in a library studying like the book worm you are” she smiled and crossed her arms, interested in the conversation.
“Well, if you must know I’ve changed through the two years” he smiled, “I’m a teacher now” he nodded, “It wasn’t hard to get my credentials though” he nodded in a matter of fact way. Ying chuckled, “Oh yeah, doesn’t it take like sometimes years to get credentials?” she questioned. Changmin responded with a nod, “Yes, it was-but never underestimate a Shim. Alas, I got mine in under a year” he grinned. Ying raised an eyebrow, “You sure it wasn’t a year and a day?” she laughed softly.
“If you must know…it was a year and 15 hours okay? Sheesh” he crossed his arms, “Stupid holiday got my mailman in vacation” he complained. She laughed, “It seems that the Min in you hasn’t changed” she commented. Changmin smiled, “You haven’t changed either-still writing books I see,” he pointed at her shoulder bag filled with paper and her hand wrapped around a pencil. Ying nodded, “Yes, I’m currently wiring a series. It’s a real hit on the Internet”
“Really?” Changmin questioned.
“Yeah, the masses seem to like text with a little mix nowadays” she replied.
“Yinga linga ding! We’re gonn-oh look at here, why if it isn’t the baby of YunJae” a girl walked towards the two with an evil grin on her face. Changmin forced a smile, “Oh…hi” he looked at Ying, “I see you still hang around with the perverted freak”
“I have a name YunJae love child” she replied.
“Genna” he replied.
“Yeah, you got it” she smiled, “Changmin” she sighed, “I see you haven’t changed-still into reading while masturbating?”
“Yah-wh-“
“Okay! Let’s go!” Ying interrupted the two and sighed, “It was nice bumping into you, Changmin” she nodded, “We gotta go now-oh! Umm…maybe you can call me some time to time? Here’s my phone number” she said as she took out a piece of paper from her shoulder bag and wrote her number and gave it to him. Genna sighed, “I’m not giving you mine-you might just get the wrong idea” she nodded.
“I wasn’t asking for it, freak” Changmin retorted.
“Whatever!” she replied as she turned around to go the other way.
Ying chuckled as she watched her walk away, she turned to Changmin; “Well, yeah-call me okay? I wanna know what you’ve been up to” she smiled and waved goodbye. Changmin smiled as he waved bye as well, “Okay! Bye! Have a nice stay here in Korea!” he replied.
Ying laughed, “I will!” she replied.
“Yaahhkhh…she turned into a fine one” he smirked as he held onto her phone number.
Then, Changmin felt his phone vibrate. He took it from his jean pocket and answered it, “Yeoboseyeo?” he answered.
“Are you ready for your date?” it was Yun Kyo.
Changmin smiled and started walking to his car, “No, I’m going home and then I’ll get ready-why are you into this? You’re 13 years old”
“I gave you the advice. I’ve got the right to know-besides! Don’t you miss me?”
“Oh, yeah-I miss you so much I see you instead of food” he replied sarcastically.
“Yahh….you’re a bad uncle, you know that? I should have called Uncle Su first”
“Did you call Jaejoong?”
“….he calls me every two hours”
Changmin laughed, “Yah-that guy just loves you too much now” he smiled as he started the car’s engine. “So whatcha doing with the…dude?” he asked.
“Nothing…I’m at his apartment right now-he told me he was gonna take a bath first then we’ll go out to dinner”
“Clock the door and don’t go out until you hear him go out of the bathroom with clothing on, young lady-do you hear me?”
“You’re not as worse as Uncle Jaejoong”
“I’m trying to teach you something here-he might be perverted, well not as perverted as you…but you know. The perverted type that can hurt you”
“Hey!”
“I’m kidding-listen, I’m going into the rush hour! I’ll call you back okay?”
“Fine, fine-just to let you know…rush hour’s done today it’s 6:30” she laughed softly.
“Let me be, Yun Kyo-ah”
“Okay! Bye!”
“Bye” Changmin hung up.
-
Seung Hyun and Yun Kyo walked across town to go to his favorite restaurant for their first dinner together. He had a static-y, nervous, awkward feeling. He knew how he was there with his dead friend’s daughter, he really didn’t know why. The streetlights were an excuse to stay quiet though, for every light under the night was beautiful. Yun Kyo herself looked as if she was lost in them. This made him smile, made him remember her dead mother.
He knew her mother wanted him to know how she was doing with her father…she didn’t ask him to take her from him.
Yun Kyo sighed with a smile, “The lights are very pretty at night, huh?” she attempted to converse with the man next to her. He nodded, “Yeah, they are” he replied, “Do you like Korean food? I know you just got back from America like a year ago-its okay if you wanna settle for McDonald’s or something-I had to go through that phase” he lightly chuckled. Yun Kyo smiled, “I’ve always loved both” she responded, “And when I was in Chicago I still ate Korean with chopsticks and a spoon” she added. Seung Hyun replied with a laugh, admiring how she seemed to be light with the fact that she was with him and not her father.
“Do you…miss your umma?” he asked out of a sudden.
Yun Kyo’s smile faded as she looked down at her walking feet, “Umm…yeah-from time to time my mind ponders to her. But Appa helps me to remember that she’s looking down at me from heaven, making sure that most of the time I’m okay” her smile appeared on her face again.
“Do you…. miss her?” she replied.
Seung Hyun sighed, “Yes….I do….a lot”
“Umma really didn’t…mention you to me-how-what was your relationship with my umma?” she asked.
“We were friends” he answered and shrugged, “Though I liked her more than a friend-I uh….don’t want to make you feel uncomfortable or anything…” he paused to see her reaction.
She smiled and shook her head, “Nah, its alright-besides, she’s dead now”. She said so lightly as if it wasn’t even something that mattered to her when she cried for weeks about it. “So…. for how long?” she asked, carrying the conversation further for supplementary information.
Jaejoong nodded, “If you feel like it, ask him questions about everything your mind comes up with. And ask him as if you don’t really care and he’ll answer it” he smiled, “Sometimes it works on your appa” he laughed.
Yun Kyo smiled to her flash back and blinked. She noticed that he hasn’t answered yet, “…Have you had feelings for my umma?” she asked again, looking up at him this time. Seung Hyun gulped, “Uhh….ever since I met her” he had a smile on his face that looked as if it was trying to tell the opposite.
“Did you ever tell her?” she replied.
“No-I felt it would be wrong…I mean, she was just getting divorced and she had a child which is you-I barely knew her” he answered.
“Oh…good thinking” she shrugged off the thoughts that might come to her with that answer.
“Yeah-anyways, forget about that. Let’s talk about you and your life” he smiled, “How is it like living with two guys…in love with each other?” he asked. Yun Kyo smiled and placed her hands inside her pockets for the weather was getting colder, “It’s different….I mean, I don’t have someone that has to bleed every month in the house-except me and…well….I guess that’s it” she chuckled lightly, “I’m not saying Uncle Jaejoong’s a girl with a man’s body or anything…. He’s a man for sure. But there are just these features to him. His inside and outside just sometimes makes me think of my umma” she explained, her eyes half open in thinking deeply of her answer.
“Really?” he replied with a smile, “That’s good for you” he nodded, “You won’t miss her as much”
She pouted and looked down with a smile, “No….I actually remember her more” she laughed and sighed it off, “Sometimes when he does something in a way my umma used to I just get teary eyed and then I’d have to stop and wipe my tears off, right?” she sighed, “Then he’d stop what he’s doing and look at me and say, ‘Yun Kyo-ah, I’m sorry! I…I…. what did I do? I’ll try and not do it again like her’ and he wipe my tears for me and pat my head gently” she nodded with a smile, “He’s just so sweet and gentle but when he’s angry, the man inside him awakens” she laughed, “Like the time when he got mad at appa for almost burning the kitchen down just because he micro-waved something that wasn’t suppose to be micro-waved” she sighed at the distant memory.
“It sounds like you’re having a great time with them huh?” he asked.
She nodded and looked ahead and saw the restaurant was near, “Is that it?” she asked as she pointed to the big glowing sign. He nodded, “Yeah, come on let’s go and hurry so we can get warm again” he replied, picking up his pace.
-
Jaejoong has his arms crossed, “What if they’re doing something that illegal, Yunho?” he asked another question. Yunho rolled his eyes for that question came about for the 6th time. “For the last time, Jaejoong-ah. They aren’t doing anything illegal because tonight is a school night and if he is doing something illegal he’s gonna rot in jail then his bones are gonna rot in jail another life time” he nodded.
“What if they’re-“
“Jaejoong, stop worrying about Yun Kyo. I’m sure she’s fine-don’t you trust her?”
“I do-but I don’t trust that Seung Hyun guy-I mean….who would?”
“You haven’t even known the man-you’ve met like, what? Two or three times? That’s not even enough time to conclude something like that” Yunho replied, “Let’s just relax, okay?”
“How can you say that at a time like this? She’s suppose to call me right about now!” he looked his phone and it was 7:01.
“She’s not cal-“ suddenly his phone started ringing. Yunho smiled, “She’s probably drinking soju with him now” he teased.
Jaejoong pouted and answered his phone, “Yun Kyo-ah? Are you okay? Where are you?” he asked frantically.
He heard laughing at the other end of the phone.
“Uncle Jaejoong, I’m fine” she paused, “I’m at restaurant with …Mr. Seung Hyun” she replied.
“Mr. Seung Hyun? Hun, you can call him a bastard for all I care” Jaejoong replied, receiving a frown from Yunho, who was overhearing their conversation.
“He’s right here, Uncle Jaejoong…I don’t wanna be rude” she whispered.
“Aish, alright-well how are you? Did you get your things all ready for school?”
“Yes, I did”
“Your homework?”
“Done before I got home”
“Your clothes?”
“Ready on the bed”
Jaejoong smiled, “Good-what time are you going back to his home?” he asked, “I can’t believe I just said that” he added and blinked. Yunho laughed quietly, admiring his cute lover on the phone. “Oh, Jaejoong-ah” he sighed with a smile.
“Okay, baby-I’ll see you soon okay? I’ll be at school tomorrow because I’m gonna be subbing for a class or two” Jaejoong explained, “He’s right here” he smiled and passed the phone to Yunho.
“Hey, baby~ How are you?” Yunho asked with a smile.
“I’m okay, appa. I just wanted to know how you are with my departure and all” she chuckled, “Are you eating alright?” she teased. Yunho laughed softly, “Ayah, Yun Kyo-ah-your appa’s alright. I’m hanging on. The night you come home you’re gonna sleep with us and we’ll sing you to sleep, I miss you so much already” he sighed. Jaejoong smiled and stood up to go to the kitchen to make himself tea.
“Me too…ah!” she paused.
“What’s going on?” Yunho replied swiftly.
Yun Kyo chuckled, “Appa, you’re being to…paranoid-I’m okay. Sorry for the shriek… the food’s here. I’ll call you again when I’m about to go to sleep, okay?”
“Sure, make sure you eat a lot okay? Make this guy pay, araso?”
Yun Kyo laughed, “Yes, appa” she sighed, “Love you, bye!”
“Love you too, bye sweetie” Yunho replied and she hung up.
-
Yun Kyo and Seung Hyun started eating their meal without talking. When Yun Kyo took a sip of water, Seung Hyun cleared his throat and asked a question.
“Do you think your mother wanted us to be friends, Yun Kyo-ah?”
She nodded, “Yeah, why not?” she smiled.
“….you’d forgive me right?”
Yun Kyo blinked, what does he mean by that? She questioned herself mentally.
“Yeah…I mean we’re friends right?” she softly laughed.
He put down his chopsticks and sighed, “I…wrote the letter”
“Huh? What letter?” she asked.
“Well-I….I made everything up-I….I didn’t know what I was doing. I was heart-broken when your mother died and….I mean… I miss her so much, the day I met you I saw her in you so much” he paused and gulped, “I’m sorry-I didn’t mean it to go this far that this 3 day thing was mandatory-I thought that it was unfair that your mother had to go through sadness and defeat to a man when she was perfect in every way imaginable-no offence to your appa or anything but he better have divorced your umma for a really good reason” he nodded.
Yun Kyo blinked, “Uh…” she didn’t know how to react to his sudden confession.
“You probably think I’m crazy now, right? I think I am…I don’t know-all I know is that…” he sighed and paused, “When…when I’m with you-when I see you I don’t miss Sun Kyo. When I met you again in the mall that day the voice in the back of my mind saying I long for her was gone. And now that you’re here with me its like she’s not even dead, Yun Kyo…” tears were flowing in his eyes.
“Am I…am I making sense? At all?” he strained to see for his tears were making everything in his sight blurry. She nodded and gulped, “Yeah….” She whispered and patted his shoulder, “Don’t cry-men don’t cry in public” she smiled, trying to get him to smile as well.
He sniffed, “I don’t know what to do…”
Yun Kyo smiled and looked at him straight forward, “You have to move on-now I can forgive you and everything you did….on the other hand…I don’t think Uncle Jaejoong would” she sighed, “At this moment…but I’m sure he’ll come around-anyways, I’m no….expert but with a little common sense it’ll come to you that…she’s dead and she’s not coming back from dead” she explained.
“There’s no magic potion…we can’t turn back time…I don’t think we don’t have the kind of technology to bring dead people back to life yet…we can’t ask God to undo his doings” she nodded with a pause, trying not to cry as well.
“But we have to remember that everything happens for a reason and with every reason comes with a full, clear explanation on the way” she smiled, “There’s many more fish in the sea, come on and cheer up-you drink soju and I’ll drink…strawberry malts, we’re okay?” she chuckled.
Seung Hyun smiled, “Yeah. We’re okay”
And the two left the restaurant and went to the local family friendly bar and got themselves soju and strawberry malts. He didn’t know what happened in that restaurant but that little conversation made his senses come back fully. He had to move on because the world wasn’t going to wait for him. And that needed some help from a 13 year old and a couple of shots of soju too.
-
The dark bedroom was quiet and subtle until Jaejoong broke the silence.
“Yunho-ah, what if-“
“Jaejoong-ah, please-we need to get up early tomorrow. I already asked you if you wanted to have sex but you declined. Let’s go to sleep, hmm?”
“Yah-just because I didn’t want to have sex doesn’t mean we shouldn’t worry about other things!”
“Stop worrying about Yun Kyo-she’s fine”
“She didn’t even call us yet and you’re here talking about me declining to have an intercourse with you”
“Aish, Jaejoong-ah. Ask her tomorrow-you’re gonna see her right?”
“Yunho! That doesn’t matter-you’re her father!”
Yunho turned around and kissed Jaejoong, hoping it would shut him up.
“Good night, don’t let the bed bugs bite, sweet dreams” he said as he turned around again and closed his eyes.
Jaejoong pouted and sighed, he turned to Yunho’s back and hugged him, closing his eyes he sighed.
“Yunho…I’m turned on now…”
“Aish, Jaejoong-ah. I’m not in the mood anymore”
“Can you feel it, though?”
Yunho sighed, “Yes, I feel your erected dick up against my ass, hun-I feel it”
Jaejoong giggled, “Oh, I love you”
