New Moon review
I've watched NEW MOON for the first time last night - 7 theatres playing the movie at the same time, it was so crowded, you wouldn't believe it!
Thanks to everyone who wished me fun and you were all soooo right, i really enjoyed the movie - so the long wait was worth it. I pity everyone who still hasn't seen it and i can't wait for the DVD release so i can watch it over and over again (without the synchronisation).
New Moon is different from Twilight - you can see the handwriting of the two different directors, so it's hard to tell which one is better - i like them both equally. But of course there are things i like better and some that i like less, so here're the major points:
What i did like most:
- more Jake - the breaking up scene was so heartbreaking!
- the Pack - the CGI wolves look really good and the guys are great together
- CHARLIE - our ladies' man!
- more humor - especially with Mike Newton!
- more action, drama and emotions - the scene with Bella watching numbly the seasons turn while she's stuck in her pain is beautiful and sad at the same time
- the Volturi - Aro seems to be really crazy, i love to hate him, though the other Volturi members didn't have much work to do
Favorite Scene: Victoria's chase/cliff-diving sequence - you really have to see it! Visually brilliant and the music!!! And it's a shame Rachelle won't be back for Eclipse - she was so great as Victoria - even without one single line!
What i didn't like (that much or at least could have been better):
- less Edward - visions of him are just not enough - i would've liked to see how he's been coping during the absence from Bella (although that's not really described in the book)
- less Cullens - they really should have had more screen time, just like the Pack guys and some of the Volturi (Did Alec actually have one line??? I can't remember)
- the sparkling effect - i liked the more subtle one from the 1st movie better, this one looks like "laser-pimples"
Worst Scene: Alice's vision of Bella's future - it reminded me so much of the honeymoon sequence from Shrek 2, but that one's better (and more funny) - i think it would have been more intense if they just would have shown Bella with the blood-red eyes of a Newborn, making you wonder (at least if you haven't read BD) if she will become a "bad" vampire after the change.
But in the end, i really like New Moon and can't wait for Eclipse (and hopefully Breaking Dawn too)!
