bourgeois

my father told me last night that my friends and i are "bourgeois" and i therefore can never equal the glory that is his blue collar. or something like that. hell, i'd be a blue collar worker if i could. if i had anything to offer that working world. but dammit, i'm just bad at doing useful things.
anyway, the reason my father said this is because of my nonstop week of doing not necessarily useful things. wanna hear about it? sure you do!
so after the illness last week, i went to see the squid and the whale, which is not as good as it looks and is entirely about semen, and wolf parade, which was an awesome concert, all the better because it was $6. thanks nyu! friday i went to work and then headed up to sarah lawrence (at rush hour, yeesh) to meet coco. then we went to open mic night. i really wish d-camp wouldn't announce our presences like it's such a big deal everytime we go, it makes me really uncomfortable. but cheers, you guys - you did a hell of a better job than i ever did. it was excellent.
then i spent saturday with my parents, and they dropped me back in the city that night. then i did the FASTEST GET PRETTY in my life! to go with sam to the warriors party in williamsburg. it was the first time i think i've ever been to like, a real nyc party. in that sense. anyway, it was very fun. even though sam made me dance.
monday night i went to the public to see ruby sunrise, written by one of the ddw profs! and it's so worth seeing, if you want to see a show and you don't know what to see, i highly recommend it. then sam and i went to meet moyer to see the mountain goats at the knitting factory, which was also a good show. wednesday after saying i wasn't going to go all week, i went to webster hall to see the go! team, and i'm really glad i did, because it was another great show. yay! then thursday i went to see balm in gilead, which was pretty interesting if not great. plus i got to see the chick from my girl in her underwear. dude, she's totally stacked now. go see balm in gilead. yeaaah.
then i went to meet sam, mark and taylor to see capote. which was GOOD! it really was! but i fell asleep. so...if you wanna just go by that...
yesterday i went to work, then went to cantor to see a screening of jesus is magic, sarah silverman's movie. it wasn't horrible. but she isn't that funny. and she'd be so hot if she weren't such a racist. sigh.
today i went with sam, stephie and chris to the pink teacup for brunch, and as soon as my laundry's done i'm meeting them in central park to frolic. then sam and i might try to see jarhead before david's going away party tonight.
bourgeois? maybe. but it's a hell of a fun life, i tell ya. as long as i get all my work done tomorrow, it's worth the procrastination.
