3.21.07 IAMX @ Safari Sam's
I was lucky enough to see Chris in London last year. Having him announce the IAMX date at the cargo was one of the biggest factors of me wanting to go to London. Now, ive been a fan of sneaker pimps since they had Keli Ali as the vocalist but when I heard him do the vocals on “sick” off the bloodsport album I was totally hooked. Who knew he could sing? Today, he is my favorite male vocalist and one of my favorite artists. So, going to see IAMX with my best friends was a dream.
The show: I really like the venue because they have a great sound and lighting system with a friendly staff. But, for some reason they were extremely unorganized for this show. Doors were supposed to be at 9pm but they didn’t’ let anyone in until 10:30 leaving us all out in the cold with the scary homeless guy shouting at us. By they time we get in, the first band was already done (it sucked cuz no one was inside when they were playing). I get in and stand between the keyboards and where chris is supposed to be 3rd person back (the best view in my opinion).
I wasn’t sure who his band was going to be this time but he had the usuall guitarist, drummer and Dee Plume from Robots in Disguise on keyboards and bass. She is fabulous! I always love her style and plus she's really talented. No Sue Denim this time but its okay because Dee is a better singer and more fun to watch. Chris is so deliciously sexy- of all the shows I’ve been to he’s still my favorite and style wise no one compares.
Best moment of the night was probably when he and his guitarist decided to take off his jacket. Shortly afterwards, Chris jumped into the crowd and landed directly on top of me. At the exact moment I was taking photos so I didn’t see him as he was falling. I got most of his upper body and got his sweat all over me... (so hot!). he was carried back onto the stage and my camera got tangled on his mic so he was pulling until I finally got it untangled. Oh and some lucky bitch jumped on stage and started to grind against him. He was so good at working the audience he wasn’t freaked out and just took it and pushed her offstage. After the first encore, the audience was cheering for some more until some asshole MC guy jumped on stage to plug the next few gigs he was going to be sponsoring. Of course, the audience booed him off but chris and co. didn’t take the stage again.
After the show, i happened to run into tommy walter from abandoned pools and Linda Strawberry (she did keys for billy corgan). For the Linda fans out there, she says that she will release some music in about 6wks. as well as do some shows. i love everything about her- she just never looks bad!
