alcohol poisoning, karaoke and diapers
HELLO AGAIN LIVEJOURNAL!! I was kidnapped and have returned for the next two days before I disappear again. Here's a recap of what happened to me in the last couple weeks.
So I had thought that my parents weren't coming to visit the weekend of the 17th but it turns out that they did and I had to haul ass on the afternoon bus(the vietnamese one i mentioned before) to San Jose that Friday. I got to my grandparents house 15 minutes after my parents arrived(11 pm) and there were hugs and kisses and updates and so on. I spend saturday babysitting my hundreds and hundreds of cousins ( I kid... only 10) and my niece and nephew. Then stay up with my aunts, uncles, mom and dad while they gamble and drink and tell childhood stories of my uncle being lost for about a week and staying at some guys house while they looked for his parents. Sunday, my uncle marinated some meat that i spend a good 2 hours skewering and my brother(Tu) bbqs. Around 2:30 or 3 my aunt and I start getting ready to head back to Irvine. I drive the first half and stay awake by listening to an old cd that my cousin made that had songs by a euro boy band from the 90s. my uncle takes over the second half of the drive and I knock out cuz I'm so tired.
The next day(monday) my aunt comes home from work and asks me if I heard what happened to my dad the night before. Turns out he was rushed to the emergency room cuz he had alcohol poisoning. He barely ate anything and drank a lot. It was dangerous...I understand this but I still think it's hilarious that my dad got that wasted. I don't blame him for it though. It's been 2 years since he's seen his siblings and we don't know when he will be able to come visit again so yeah.
Then on Wednesday, I had a math test that I completely bombed and I seriously need to get miracle grades on everything from now on in order to get anything higher than a c in the class.
Thursday I head back up to San Jose in the morning bus and get there around 3:45 and my brother(Thach) picks me up and i go to my grandparents house for a couple of hours waiting for my friend Anna to get out of class so she can pick me up cuz I'm staying at her house that night. She picks me up around 7 and we go pick up our friend Vanessa and they help me shop for Pam's baby shower gift(I got her a gigantic box of diapers, some hooded towels, and palmer's stretch mark lotion thanks to those who made sugguestions). After that we went to pick up our friend Kesheia and went to karaoke at some place in Cupertino. It was japanese style, but unfortunately my friends are lame and don't listen to arashi so we stuck with english songs. We snuck in some drinks but didn't really need them cuz we are a crazy bunch as it is. Sang our hearts out we did. After that we went to denny's to get food cuz we were all starving. There were some really cute EMTs(emergency medical technicians) who were eating there too. Finally got back to Anna"s house around 3 am.
Friday was a shopping day with Anna and that was fun. I spent a lot of money which, in hindsight, I shouldn't have but I'm planning on returning some stuff so it's okay. For the rest of the weekend I stayed at my grandparents cuz it's expected of me and Anna had a lot of work to do friday night. I make a ceviche for Pam's shower go to sleep around 1 in the morning
I woke up on saturday at around 8 to get ready cuz I helped Anna decorate the hall for the baby shower. We finish right when people are showing up at 1 pm and the shower starts off really slow but once we start playing the games it gets better. Pam got loads of clothes, towels, wash clothes, shoes, bottles, pacifiers, diapers etc etc. I would have to say out of all the presents she got she was the happiest about the breast pads that Anna gave her and the lotion that I gave her. The shower was fun and I finally got to meet Shawn(Pam's fiance)'s best man(Tony) and one of the two groomsmen(Sean). Tony was great and funny and really easy going and approachable. Sean was the complete opposite. He barely spoke. I heard maybe 3 sentences come from him and they were directed at Shawn. I don't even remember if we were introduced to each other. Lots of photos were taken but not with my camera cuz it's still broken. I have to go steal them from everyone else when they upload them to their respective pages. The shower ended around 4:30 and we cleaned up and got out of the hall by 5. Anna and I went back to her place and I painted our nails and watched the Rocky Horror Picture Show cuz we were bored. At 8 we went to go pick up Vanessa to go to ihop because Anna and Kesheia were supposed to have a pancake eating contest but it didn't happen because Kesheia had major stomach pains and stayed home. We ate and decided to go see the movie Changling but it wasn't showing at the theater we went to so we were going to go watch a movie at Anna's house but I got super tired on the way there and had her take me back to my grandparents and fell asleep around 11.
Sunday my sister came over and I played with my niece and nephew for about an hour then I had to head on over to the XE DO HOANG (viet bus) for my 6 hour trip back to Irvine. Ivee(my cousin) picked me up at 11:15 pm and we went to Walmart(24hr) because we needed to return some stuff but their customer service was closed for the night so Ivee bought some movies. Then we went to Newport beach to get coffee and ham and cheese croissants from this 24hr donut shop that is famous for their ham and cheese croissants. Headed back home and studied until 4:30 in the morning couldn't stay up anymore so I went to sleep before Ivee and here I am now.
I'm going back to San Jose again on thursday cuz my friends are going bowling on friday for halloween and want me to come hang out with them. There is a possibility that Ivee will also go up to the Bay Area cuz she has friends in the SF/Oakland/Berkeley area who want her to come up for Halloween. If she does then I might go out with her and her friends on saturday night.
After that, my schedule should die down a bit and then Thanksgiving will come and Pam's baby is due at the end of November so yeah.
October has been a busy month for me and now I am off to try and get through all the stuff I have missed in the last 3 weeks on my friends list. So much to catch up on. I don't know how I am going to do it.
