Long Night...

Today was not a fantastic day.
It is very possible that the lack of order to the day didn't help, but come ON! Monday is our "unscheduled day" per se. I had planned for us to chill, mess around on the piano a bit, do some baking, pick up Morgan and Hailey, and then get groceries. Early in the day he became obsessed with downloading the radio to his ipod. Since I have no idea how to do this, I told him that he would have to wait until Eddy got home (Wed night). He was full on STUCK. So much so that as soon as my back was turned, he had tethered his ipod up to Eddy's personal laptop and had opened up the itunes program and was transferring files. Apparently this is a huge no no since Eddy's ipod is the unit that is tethered to those itunes. ????? I really don't get it, but this is apparently not good and could erase the songs. I quickly disconnected it and hopefully no harm has been done. While this may have solved the immediate problem, it didn't do much for the long term. All day long consisted of "when can we download the radio, when can I phone dad, when when WHEEEEENNNNNN???" ACK!!
By lunchtime I was getting a little panicky about what I was going to be able to do with him that would possibly diffuse him a bit. Paul (my bro) called unexpectedly and begged me(us) to come in and help him sand his garage floor in the new house he is building. He is putting down some funky finish that will allow him to wipe up oil spills easily and be crack/chip resistant. So off we went in our work clothes and I ran the big push sander machine while Austin followed me with the shop vac that was plugged into the machine. Paul used the hand sander around the edges. This was a nice break to the day, but things quickly went sideways again once we got back home. He went back the whole ipod/radio fixation and remained agitated until I finally put him to bed. Ahhhhh.
As I tucked him in to his bed and wrapped him up in his blankets, he asked me to snuggle him "hard". He likes heavy pressure when he is feeling agitated. So I wrapped my arms around him and squeezed...and he sighed with relief. After a minute or two, he said that he was ok. I think he was asleep five minutes later. Lots of sensory stuff going on here.
Note to self...next Monday will be a scheduled social outing. He needs to go somewhere/do something. While I might enjoy a day of lounging, he clearly does not.
The other downer of the day was that I didn't get any school work done. Tomorrow is going to be a much different story. I do have some Green Clean business to take care of in the morning, but I am thinking of using some respite time for him in the afternoon so that I can get a full 2 or 3 hours of work done. I'd love to get a start on the first series of essays. Yes I can do this. I can.
Well that's it for now. I am fading quickly and need to some pillow time.
Over and out...
