I'm sure it's been said before by someone, but I think the way that you know you've found the one is when you can remember all the little details in terms of times that you've spent with them.

I remember that my friend invited me over to his house and he said his friend that lived out of town was coming. I knew this friend was a girl and so I tried just a little harder than normal to look presentable. We were going to watch the Grinch Before Christmas (the original cartoon, not the stupid remake). I made cookies, as I thought that would make a good impression. You brought green frosting.

I met you and I noticed your eyes. Yes, I looked at your butt, but I tried to not be obvious (and you don't remember that, so I must have done a decent job).

Our friends were both stoned and didn't want to go out, so we decided to go dancing. I thought it was a good sign that you joined me even though you'd only known me for about 2 hours. While at the club, we danced a little bit, but mostly tried to talk over the din. There was a guy at the club that you had worked with while you lived in town and at one point he stripped down to his tighty whitey's, gyrating like an out-of-time dippy bird and clearing the dancefloor. You said people had given him the name of "pink squirrel."

I drove you back to your rental car that was parked in front of my friends house and the whole way there I was trying to think of a good way to invite you up for a hot chocolate or something. I had a photography exhibit coming up in less than two weeks and I thought about using the approach of showing you some of my work, but then had second thoughts and decided against it.

We said a quick "good night" and right before you jumped out of the car, you gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and then you were off to your car before I could say a single word. I was blushing and I think I finally stammered out a couple words as your car pulled away.

I went home smiling and I hoped like heck you would figure out some way to contact me so we could talk again. I guess that worked out okay.
