Back to the city of lost angels...
so, after spending days staring at the computer trying to find a decently priced ticket back to lost angels (HA! like one of this was gonna exist). i didn't find one. they were running from $1000 to $2500... with layovers in some rather unusual places. i mean, i expect the portland or vegas or phoenix or even the occasional chicago. i was having some serious issues with the ones that had me flying from honolulu to ATLANTA then back to lost angels...
anyhow, i called up united mileage plus, knowing i would have to go that route. first the woman told me they had no saver seats (35,000 miles) for the 6th thru the 26th. i was calling on the 10th. why did she think i cared if there were seats available on the 6th? then she looked for standard miles (70,000) miles. again, she told me there were no seats available from the 6th thru the 26th. again, i asked her why she was telling me about the 6th. she said she was in the philippines and i should be happy i was stuck in hawaii. i wanted to tell her to mind her own business.
then she said one seat popped up for monday morning. i said i'd take it, knowing i had a dr. appt. tuesday morning and another thursday morning that i knew i couldn't miss. she said it would be 70,000 miles, $75 cuz it was within 5 days, and a $5 fee. oh, and it was a 7 am flight. to all of the above i kinda went "ick" then said thank you, i'll take it.
as for ATA? i called my mom's credit card company and got the charge refunded in under 5 minutes. wow. that was the easy part. and the full charge too, even tho i had used the first part of the ticket. something about completion of expectation of service. cool. something went right.
now i have 9 hours to get everything done and leave for the airport. did i mention i have to be there by 5 am? ick.
