A Plot Twist.
So remember before when I said that LJ, while a nice method for basic keeping-in-touch, is not so great for communication about the Big Things in life? Well, here's another stellar example. See, in the last week or so, my situation has altered (or rather, deteriorated) somewhat drastically, and I now have some wild and, for most of you, completely unexpected news to report:
I am coming back to Florida. Way earlier than planned.
Basically, I have not been able to find any work other than my part-time gig tutoring here at Ivy Tech, and I simply cannot make my rent anymore. Meanwhile, I found out from my leasing office that, while they still do not break leases, if I clear all my stuff out and hand over the keys to them, they will clean and show my apartment to prospective renters. The minute my place gets rented out again, then, I am off the hook. But the flip side is that I am still responsible for paying the rent up until that new lease is signed, and obviously there are no guarantees that they'll even be able to find a new tenant between now and May, when my lease officially ends.
But as I said, I can't pay my monthly rent anymore, can barely keep up with my other bills, and have had absolutely zero luck in finding ANY other employment. This is the longest I have ever been on the job market without finding something, anything, to bring home the bacon, and it's a little scary and more than a little depressing. Anyhow, I guess I figure that my chances of finding work in Tampa Bay (population: over a million) are far greater than my chances of finding something here in Lafayette (population: 60,000). So I'm packing up and heading home. Sigh.
I'm planning on sending out an email to all my friends and family (including y'all, of course), providing the basics of this new twist in my plot line, and also asking for help that I desperately need in terms of finding work and finding lodging (oh, did I mention that I won't be able to stay with my folks?) back in the Sunshine State. But before I did that, I wanted to first come here to my LJ friends and share the news with you. It's been a pretty rough couple of weeks around here for me, what with the mono-esque exhaustion and the lack of money and now the overwhelming-ness of having to pack and move my entire life AGAIN and with only about two weeks in which to do it, but even though I've wanted to be able to post about all of it here and share it with you all, I frankly just haven't had the strength. Nor have I really known where to begin talking about it. Honestly, most days, it's all I can do just to keep my head in the game, you know?
Anyway, that's what's going on in my 'hood. I'm gonna go back to making copious moving-related "To Do" lists now, but will try to post more details later on. Obviously, the good news here is that I'll hopefully be able to see most of you much sooner than I had originally anticipated, so that is definitely something for me to look forward to!
