SNOW!

Whoo, lordy!

So much for the light snow we were supposed to be getting up here in Indiana. Flakes started falling at around 11PM last night (which amazing occurrence mikeashke got to witness vicariously over the phone), and by the time the sun came up this morning, my entire world was blanketed in about three inches of soft white powder. It looked a lot like that time I dropped a bottle of baby powder in the bathroom and then accidentally stepped on it when I stooped to pick it up. :)

Anywho, I attempted to document my first Midwest snow storm from the warmth and safety of my flat, but I did step out for a bit to take a video of the the falling snow last night at about midnight. There is nothing else on earth quite like the sight of soft icy snowflakes sort of drifting through the air and landing where they will. It's the most silent thing I've ever witnessed, even with the upstairs neighbors coughing and spitting off their balcony as I stood there mesmerized by the entire process. At any rate, here's the video I took:

And here's some of the photos I took this morning of my winter wonderland:

View from my porch:

Another shot from my back porch, note the snow blob next to the bush that was once my car:

A close-up view, which I think looks an awful lot like my currently unshaven legs:

And last but not least, one of the snow plows that cleared out my parking lot, as viewed through my living room window:

Well, I'munna toddle off to bed for now, with plans to snuggle up under my down duvet and pray for no ice on the roads tomorrow for my drive over the Wabash River to campus. Yup, snow: pretty but dangerous. Give me a thunderstorm any ol' day of the week.

(Guess you can take the girl out of Florida but you can't take the Florida out of the girl)

Night-night!
