Marching Forward

Wow...I can't believe it's March already. Seriously, this year is going by ridiculously fast.

Lots has happened in recent weeks (that actually pertain to "marching forward", in a way) so let's recap:

  • THE HABS! - They've resurged out of their crappy streak of about 10 games and now have won four in a row, including one tonight over the league's best team, the San Jose Sharks - even though we really didn't have any business winning tonight. Go Habs! Keep marching forward to the playoffs!

  • WORK! - Work's been pretty good lately. The last few weeks have been pretty RSP-heavy, so I'm getting a lot of referrals - double, maybe triple what I'm expected to - so it's a good time of the year to build up a nice cushion for when things are slow. I'm really liking my guard/greeter/random task job as well, actually - especially when it's busy and I'm the guy that basically keeps the traffic flow controlled and moving. And I entertain the line as they wait - with conversation and occasion displays of my "ninja moves". The kids like it anyway. And I keep marching forward into May, when I finally get to train for my future with the bank.

  • GIRLS! - Well, not so much "girls" but - a few dates here and there, hang outs and whatnot. Sadly my friend from Chilliwack and I have parted ways, due to what turned out to be some mixed messages and miscommunications. I thought we were playing the 'friends card' for now because we agreed the distance between us was too great, she kinda had the feeling we were more serious than that...and when she realized that wasn't the case for the both of us she amicably parted ways. It sucks because I did like her but I knew the distance would become an issue sooner or later and neither of us were willing to move any time soon. It also sucks because I still wanted to keep her as a friend. It makes me wonder if I damage potential relationships from the start, even subconsciously. I certainly hope not, but it's made me wonder...maybe I'm just looking for something perfect, rather than something decent that is available. Then again, why should I settle for something that won't make me as happy as possible? It's a delicate balance. Oh well...marching forward, I had a "date" (more of a hang-out) with a friend on Commercial Drive today, wandering about in various cafes, coffee shops, bars, etc, etc...it was fun. I actually really like that neighbourhood.

  • THE BAGMOBILE, VER. 2! - It looks like my car search may almost be over. On Monday I'll be checking out a $6500 2007 Chevy Cobalt that a friend of my buddy Mike got from an ICBC auction recently. It had bad suspension and has been fixed, and apparently runs well otherwise. I want to check it out of course but if it runs well it's a great deal and will save at least $3500 for me. Then I just have to figure out how to deal with my old car, and where I'll get the best deal to sell it off to a scrap yard or something. It's nice to see I could get my line of credit extended to cover my car payment though; a 3% interest rate (for employees) is pretty awesome!
