So my bro and I met our goal of winning the Stanley Cup in NHL 09 in the second season of our Dynasty Mode. After getting tossed in the second round in the previous year, we had a lot on the line here and built our most solid defensive team ever - and one of our biggest offensive juggernauts, at the same time.
And yes, we play as my beloved Habs.
Regular season stats:
Record: 64-9-0-9. 137 points
That'd be the best ever in league history if this were a real team.
Goals For: just under 400
Goals AGainst: just under 200
And on top of that, of those goals scored, we had 1 player with 61 goals, another with 55, and a whole bunch with 20 or more.
Our playoff record was even more impressive:
Round 1 - vs. New York Rangers, won in 7 games
Round 2 - vs. Pittsburgh Penguins, won in 5 games
Round 3 - vs. New Jersey Devils, won in 4 games
Round 4 - vs. Calgary Flames, won in 4 games
And there were huge storylines in every round...we were behind in the first round from the start, we've had a troubled history with the Penguins for years, the New Jersey Devils had the best goalie in the league which we gave them the previous season, and Calgary...we ALWAYS play Calgary in the finals. (It was almost Vancouver this year but they just couldn't make it happen.)
