From Crapples to...Apples!
Last night I hooked up with surrey_sucks and her friends for her own belated birthday celebration, which was a lot of fun. Yes, I played chauffer more than I expected (but that's fine) and our service at the restaurant (Fets) was poor (though the dinner was delicious) but that's OK, it was fun.
DAMN that service was bad. I mean, yes, there were 15 or 18 people there, so for any waitress it would be a little intimidating...but to mix ALL of our meals onto one bill is ridiculous. Usually when such a thing happens I'm out for beer with the guys and we only buy a multitude of beer. But when it takes us about 20 minutes to GET the bill and then almost a full hour after to FIGURE THE BILL OUT because the waitress didn't know how to split the bill up - or just plain didn't want to.
Ugh. What I also didn't like is that despite this awful service at the end of our dinner, we were all FORCED to pay an 18% gratuity on our bills, because of the size of our party (as indicated in the menu). So there was no additional tip. I didn't even want to tip 10% at that point...but I was still pleasant because really, what was yelling going to do at that point?
Afterwards a handful of us headed to her house for drinks and a fun game of Apples to Apples, which I won. That really is a fun party/social game. And I was fortunate enough to get the most valuable card in the game, the "Michael Jackson" card, which is pretty much a wild card and guaranteed winner.
It was fun to hang out with her again and also see some of my other LJ friends as well, like joyousandjuicy and vizvasaha, and meet up with newcomer vie5 as well...if only she'd add me back. :p
