There's nothing I want to do more right now than just disappear - just for a few days, just to chillax and do NOTHING. This last week has been kind of hellish - or boring - it generally alternates between the two.
Work this week was horribly polar - it was either really slow and boring, or really busy and frustrating when I was trying to multitask and get all my duties fulfilled.
What was fun, though, was that on Tuesday night eight of us took off after work, went out for dinner at a greek place up Commercial Drive, and then went to the movies to see Kung Fu Panda. Ya know, with the excellent exceptions of the first two Shrek movies, there hasn't really been anything that Dreamworks Animation has produced that has wowed me. Everything else has been either "bland and passable" or downright BAD.
I'm happy to say that Kung Fu Panda is a solid movie because it looks great, but it's also acted well by all the main characters. Maybe my opinion was skewed because of the contagious laughter and other reactions by my cohorts, but I did enjoy it. The rest of this week we've been throwing lines of the movie back and forth at work, especially how I'm now referred to as "Panda" (rather than T-Bag) and I often retort, "don't be jealous because you're blinded by my awesomeness." I'm not usually a huge Jack Black fan but he fit the role here perfectly.
Now I need another movie to see this weekend. That Hulk movie keeps getting decent reviews (for being a popcorn movie) but I just can't handle the idea of appreciating the Hulk as a comic book character with any actual substance. Seriously - he's mild-mannered, gets mad, then smashes things, and tries to come to grips with it. Is that not a little one-dimensional? I always thought so. But maybe I'll cave in anyway.
Either way, I've gone fishin'. Be back soon.
