Here's the concert review I posted to TicketMaster... figured I'd share it here as well! :-)
ANNE'S PIPES, ARNEL'S ANTICS
First, the bad news... The Reno Events Center is one of the worst concert venues I've been to in years. It narrowly nosed out the Grand Showroom in the Silver Legacy for me. The seats were comfortable (sort of, unless you've got long legs), and the tiered bleachers made it so that you could easily see over the row in front of you. But the acoustics!!! UCKK!! Thank god I took earplugs, so I was able to block out some of the buzz and reverb that just did not help the show one bit. The Center was obviously built as a sports facility. The echo was awful.
Now, for the GREAT news!!
Holy tamale! Anne Wilson's voice!! She's still got the pipes after all these years! Yeah, she may have packed on some pounds... but, then so many of us have! Who cares?? She's a woman who is comfortable with her talent, which is delivering an incredible vocal performance... not slinking around the stage shaking her tatas and tukus! Nancy Wilson, too, still delivers amazing vocals - all while wailing away on that guitar. WOW! The rest of Heart is no less amazing, from keyboards (Debbie), to bass (Ric), guitar (Craig), and drums (Ben). Great performance!!
And as if the evening could get any better...
Arnel Pineta is a total stick of dynamite! I swear, he sounds more like Steve Perry than Mr. Perry himself! Arnel and the rest of the band kept the audience pumped. Neal on guitars, Ross on bass, Jonathan on keyboards/guitar, and Deen... wow, Deen! I'm still amazed at your mad skills! Playing a double bass drum set with umpteen cymbals and tom toms... AND SINGING! Dood, amazing!! All of the guys in this band are extremely talented, and they yet again did not disappoint a frenzied crowd.
Overall, GO SEE THESE GUYS! Heart & Journey are a spectacular combination for a show.
