I am enamored with this idea. I've been wanting an eBook Reader for a few months now, but none of them seem worth the cost. I've also been wanting a netbook-sized computer for class and just to carry around. My laptop is quite bulky, more of a desktop replacement (Which is generally how I use it, it's mostly just a portable desktop to me).

Looking on ebay, there are usable tablet PC laptops for under 200 bucks. I don't mind the old hardware since it wouldn't be for anything more than internet use and reading/writing. There are always some places that can be upgraded and the possibility of throwing some other operating system on it in the future would be nice. Plus this would just be a nice little project computer, and I could take my current computer and convert it into a mobile entertainment platform (I did have HTPC here but Kitty was confused that I might not use Hammy [that's the computer's name] for gaming anymore, and I still like gaming on Hammy and also on my PS3 since my PS3 is awesome and was given to me by the most awesome person on the planet who is currently being silly and trying to get a good fake pout on but is utterly failing as she gets confronted with my dimple attack).

Neat ideas. I'd like to have it pulled off by the end of the year. Ideally by the end of November. I wonder if there are any good linux-based .pdf programs or programs for reading other reader formats.

Eh, at least this one isn't a pipe dream like building a gaming desktop or media server, as I'm simply never going to get around to them. This I might actually pull off! :-)
