I've been wanting to cook some ham steak for a while now. It's a good memory from my childhood, Dad made it for Saturday dinner a lot at his old apartment. I hadn't really had it since then, I'm not sure why he got out of the habit of cooking it as I got older but he did. I think we started eating out more for dinner.
He doesn't cook much now, sadly. His kitchen is an absolute mess. He's tempted to send in pics of his house to Hoarders on A&E. The kitchen in particular has been a mess for years despite two thorough attempts at cleaning it. We foolishly thought it would be a good anchor point for cleaning the rest of his house, but I see now the flaw in that strategy as the anchor point for cleaning his house needs to have enough cleaned space for him to put stuff into to organize during the process.
N-E-WAY I cooked up some ham steak tonight. I kept looking up and down online for a good recipe for it. I eventually settled on Rachel Ray's 6-minute recipe. A little olive oil and a frying pan and 6-8 minutes later it's done. It tastes yummy too, nice and simple.
Like Dad used to make, I guess.
I wonder if I can petition Hoarders on his behalf if he submits an application to them.
