So, I've pretty well got the Loft situated now. It's officially the "Man Loft" but a lot of items in here are things that Cat already owned. I wanted a lot of red, but not NCSU red, so we wound up going for a red/burgundy color. The slate shelf and flail that's on top of the TV is going to go on the wall along with an iron framed mirror that matches the shelf. they might go on the wall above the right side of my desk.
This is the ottoman we made.
sohma_g had left some foam cubes with Cat at the apartment they shared. We took off the old covers (they were stained and not cleanable anymore) and kept the big foam blocks. Cat made a cover out of a reddish flocked fabric we'd had lying around since she bought the house. I made a wood base for it, painted it black, and fitted the cover to it to turn it into an ottoman and potential chair.
This is Monkey, because he's cute and the most photogenic cat I've ever had. He never looks at the camera after it beeps.
This is Rexanne, she stands guard outside the loft.
This is the desk. It's a marble table that Cat had previously. It's not likely to be permanent. The marble top is too cold when the fan's on, and there's no way I can attach better cord wrangling devices to it. Underneath of it is a wine box I painted black to cover the power strip and hide some cords. Under the monitor is a few cigar boxes I painted and drilled some holes in. It contains most of the monitor's cables and my Card Reader and USB Hub. My laptop is missing because it's b0rked right now.
This is the futon, the ottoman, and the desk chair. The big pillows were pre bought and match the ottoman fabric. Cat made the pillow that's on the chair so I'd have something to sit on.
This is the view from the futon. The picture hanging in the middle was taken by
sohma_g's father.
Here's a link to all of them. There are a few pics I didn't post.
http://picasaweb.google.com/timswar/LoftArea# I like how it's worked out. It doesn't look like there's much floor space, but the ottoman can just be moved next to the desk and suddenly there's open floor. The eventual goal includes having a rug between the futon and the TV. Also a tapestry on the wall behind the futon and perhaps something else on the wall next to the candle cage.
It was intended to be a "Man Loft", but to be honest I didn't really think about that as Cat and I were furnishing it. It's more just become a den that we both use now (particularly since laying down on the futon to watch movies is enjoyable).
