I have a new found passion in life - rowing. I had a long time interest in rowing, so about two months ago I finally signed up for a Learn to Row class offered on Lake Union. Love it. I wake up in the morning and the first thing I think about is Is it a rowing day? Of the two types of rowing - sweep (one oar) or scull (two oars) - I definitely prefer sculling. Its probably deeply rooted in my self-conscious that sweeping conjures images of cleaning so I want to avoid that at all cost. =)
The first couple of times sculling I got sooo many blisters, but my hands are finally callousing over and I can focus on balance and speed. The coach wanted to put me in a smaller boat - which if you have seen a sculling shell(boat) you may wonder how they can get any smaller. My fat ass nearly hangs over the edgegs. LOL
Anywho, she finally got the chance on Saturday - put me in a boat that is about 15 inches wide - well needless to say I finally got to practice getting back into the boat after flipping over in the middle of the lake. Balance, Balance, Balance - my new mantra!

School is out for the summer - well at least the month between summe quarter and fall. I am glad, as I was getting a bit burned out on the whole school thing plus I was running out of excuses for not doing homework. I still have to conquer English , but most of my classes over the next 2 quarters will be fun - programming and databases. For those non-IT folks, trust me its fun! On the down side is that I was used to not having spare time, now I have tons of it. Back to the gym!! and maybe rearrange the house a bit...

Ok time to feed the kittys and get my hair did.
