Now I know that Queensland is only one hour away from Sydney time with it's non-daylight saving, or permanant daylight saving, am not sure which, but one hour totally puts you out when you have to rise at 6am Sydney time but only go to bed at 1am Queensland time (which is then 2am in Sydney - and you've been up since 6am in Qld). Yes ... I think if I hadn't been constantly thinking that then I might have been more awake - but it was also that I spent my whole weekend out and about looking at Brisvegan things and playing computer games at the Game on expo and eating breakfast with Justin and David, both of whom are ten thousand times worse than me when it comes to impulse ordering of brownies after eggs and bacon and hash browns and so on - and David is an on the edge future diabetic like me, so shame on both of us - but that french toast was freaking amazing! And it kept me going right through the lunch I didn't have and all the way to my 10pm dinner of lamb shanks, so it was the right choice. Yum! Staying in hotels by your lonesome is so much fun that I don't know why anyone would ever bother going for a romantic weekend for two. Tis a far, far better thing to wander around your room in a Tom Cruise before he was crazy outfit - ie. not very much, and watch the Australian Open at the same time as reading a Jane Yolen book and just throwing the contents of your suitcase EVERYWHERE. Oh bliss! Anyway, it was fun. And I had a second gigantic breakfast the next day on a balcony of the Flowers Cafe somewhere in the surburbs of the once corrupt state of Queensland. And the Aurealis Awards were vair good fun! But once again I have come to my LJ at a time when I ought to be bed. Curses upon the end of long weekends, it's just so much more unfair to have to go to work the next day. My body clock has reset itself to getting up as late as poss after one whole day of sleeping in (today) - yesterday I woke up at 6am for no good reason but was still unprepared when Justin picked me up at 8:20am from the hotel for breakfast. At least I had showered, but my resultant packing was literally a throw it all in the suitcase and hope nothing leaks. It was such a rush that I forgot to steal the mini shampoos and conditioners. Just as well, I suppose, as then they just sit on my shelf while I use up the giant (in comparion) supermarket bottles. I DID take the shower cap though, which will come in useful as I spent today scrubbing three spots of hair dye from the carpet and our rental inspection is on Wed morning. Never say that I don't have delightful timing. For I do. And it has not come out - I don't think it will. I shall have to do something creative with a mat.
