What a day of gorgeosity it is outside

It's one of those almost perfect Sydney days where the sky has been washed clean, and the only clouds are crisp and white and perfect like lettuce (apart from colour). It's cooled down since yesterday's muggy heat when it felt like you might swim through the air. It's bracing and uplifting and makes me want to march outside in shorts and singlet and feel the breeze race past my arms. And it IS very windy still, but we have returned the plants to the balcony so they can enjoy the light. My tomato plant is going great guns, it has a thick strong stem and plenty of leaves and if you lean in close you can smell the tomatoey viney scent clearly. I am anxious to see the eggplant seedlings get bigger, they don't seem to have budged much, but perhaps it's because the weather has been so on/off.

Last night's dinner at Love Supreme was lovely. We took a taxi from North Sydney due to lateness - although we were all together - put our names down for a table - our taxi driver had a near miss with another, foolish, taxi driver who nearly pulled out into us - and then we walked up to ... oh dear, I forget the name, a pub somewhere on a corner where I had a vodka with lemon, lime and bitters and the other three had something similar but different. Then we selected a brew and wandered back to Love Supreme. Yum! It was swelteringly hot, although they had fans on, and it really felt like we'd stumbled into a bar on some tropical island, they were playing cuban music and it was pleasantly dark with lights you could pull up or down (we got very excited about these and then other tables realised you could move them and for a moment about four tables were lifting and lowering the lights).

To important things, we ate:

parmesan and rocket salad - this was lovely because the parmesan was throughout the rocket - and not just on top
lamb, baby beetroot, chard and rocket salad - the lamb was soft and tender and juicy, and the beetroot - how I love baby beetroot!

one margerita - I didn't have any of this, so no idea if it was good or not, but if I was judging by the other food, then it must have been
the big brother pizza - no se why it is called this, but it was potato and gorgonzola and to die for. I think I could give up meat if the alternative was this pizza. I love gorgonzola - and one of the best Italian dishes I ever had was perfectly cooked gnocchi with gorgonzola sauce, so this is my ideal combination. Add to it some of the rocket & parmesan salad and ... heavenly
our third and final pizza was pepperoni with harissa and it was HOT! I wasn't expecting the chilli so I was a bit surprised but once I had adjusted I proceeded to eat the rest of it, as everyone else found it too hot.

And then, for some reason I was in full eating mode, just not getting to the position of complete and utter gluttony fullness, so I went for desert. My compadres, being of a more delicate disposition, elected to share some sort of honeycomb thing while I asked for the dark chocolate pudding (glory) with some sort of icecream. It was perfect, the perfect ending, dark chocolate compliments my urge for sweetness after a meal by not being too disgustingly saccharine like milk chocolate or any dessert with honey. My one exception is that wonderful crispy tortilla with icing sugar and icecream that I had at Borderland. Anyway, tres perfecto.

And then we caught a taxi home and it was twice as much as normal ($40 instead of around $22) due to the crap traffic in Paddington. This was annoying as I could have easily walked down to Town Hall or even Kings Cross and jumped on a train. Mind you, as we drove over the bridge one of the last trains did too - and I was glad I wasn't on it. Service at Love Supreme is not superb but the food is - so it turned into a very long dinner, especially as we only sat down at around 9pm, but being ex-Barcelona I like a long, late dinner, so all was well in my world.

How I love good food!
