More from the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency

I took Alexander McCall Smith's In the Company of Cheerful Ladies, the 6th volume in The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency series, to the WPF Residency in June, but only got a couple of chapters into it. I've been reading it in spurts ever since, when I have met my quota of student manuscript for the day.
Smith really loves his characters, and I've probably said before that the tone reminds me of the Don Camillo stories. These books are just charming, charming, charming.
There are many puzzles in this one. Mma Ramotswe is puzzled by a pumpkin, she is also seeking a financier on the run. Charlie is misbehaving, and there are odd things going on at Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni's old house. Mma Makutsi has moved into her new home, and has decided to take dance lessons. There is a dreaded return from the Past. Will their lives all unravel, in the face of criminal behavior and modern influences???
You'll have to read, to find out.
