A Useful Linux Trick

In some recent adventures, I came across a command to rebuild the xorg.conf file. This file controls screen modes and which driver is being used. It's not hard to screw it up in some way or change things out from under it. Running the following command regenerates the file. Though I'm not sure whether it was this or a system reboot that solved the lugubrious graphics problem I was having after upgrading to Karmic.

sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg
