For all of you who are reading this, i could care less about spellling.hehe.
This weekend I went on a christian retreat to miami florida. What a time, I left at around 8.00 and it takes a good five hours. So me and big rob, rob louden, were drive in my car following my uncle joe paul smith and steve, while my aunt felicia was behind my with tom and joel. The ride down started out boring but rob turned on the disney tones and it was a blast.( comon now dont forget whose writing this). No but seriously, we had a good time going down there. Once there we stayed at Tommy's brothers house. He is married, and has a very nice home. We unloaded and hung out, racked up some pool and played a little video games, untill we went to play some round ball. Now Miami is not my favorite city but there is always something to do. They have 8 full court bball...courts.and shuffle puck, football, soccer fields, volleyball, tennis, golf, you name it. So we playd some pick up games with some chicos. It was fun until I called them a spic and told them to go pick some strawberrys, just playin. They were nice. But what really got me going was after bball, we went to mass, church. The priest was so text book. all he talked about was facts and how everything is wrong except the catholic way. I am catholic but I don;t feel like I am better then any one, that my denomination is supreme. This Priest gives catholics the bad name they have had put on them by the world. All he talked about was respect and how the only way to recieve the ucarist was by being a catholic. I know not everything he said was incorrect, He does deserve some credit, but the majority was hog wash.( Hog wash I know). I'm just so glad my baptist friend joel did not come. I ended up leaving early. The point of christianity isn't to point fingers or to be split, its to praise and worship the lord and our savior jesus christ. To live our lives for him in everything we do, and to make sacrifices of our own for him, to give-up the worldly things that bring us down. To many priests and bishiops and pastors talk about how their denomination is right, and what it all comes down to is that it does not matter. So enough of that, once I got back, I watched terminator 3 and slept through the whole thing. The next morning I woke up and left for the retreat at FIU.
Every one their was either spanish or spanish. I meet some great people there, even though the outcome was not at all what I expected, I thought 100-200 people and only 60 something came. But it was awsome anyway. We started off with groups and games which in they end had a relation to te message they wanted to instill in us. I felt it was very broad anf not to in depth, It was like , you all know that jesus loves you right... But it got better as it went on. I meet some great people there and we talked about college and next year.... I wish I could have hung out with them but I had to leave at 5.00 pm cause I had to get home at 10 pm that night to go to UF monday. So we playeda sweet game of dodge bball and I headed off with paul. Once on the highway about 20 minutes in, I got a flat tire. So we pulled over and put on the spare then loaded up with cafine and sugar. Lent is over from Sat 6pm to sun6pm. We had a blast on the ride home. I felt it was a great trip and I had a great time, but I just felt that at the end of the day, no one was really touched by the lord. I thought it was going to a deep message that they woujld give us but it was watered down. I was very impressed by the other high school kids their, they had such a passion for the lord and so much love for him, I was just glad it did not turn out to be like a youth group. What I mean is alot of kids go to Youth for the game or their friends go and the music comes on and its time to pray and talk to the lord and they just talk to their friends or drift off into lala land, but here everyone was praying outloud and singing to jesus and calling for him, it was a wonderfulling experience( and I'm being totally serious, just to inform u) I really want to go to the next one in michigan to see all of my miami friends again but we will see. God Bless
Tim
