Public Apology.

May 08, 2008 12:17

To be honest, this is a case of 'too little, too late', and I know it. Some people may question why I make this apology at all. But it's something I've had in the back of my mind for awhile now, and some recent proddings at me really pushed me to say this.

It gets a little long, so I cut it )

I'm not familiar with the situation, but I just want to say that it takes real courage to step up and make that kind of honest public apology. From what I know of you, you're awesome, and clearly have learned from whatever bad experiences you've had in the past.

I've made horrible mistakes in the past as a moderator, things that still cause me shame, regret, and embarrassment when I think of them. I totally empathize with how you feel.

I wish it was courage that prompted this. But in reality, it's just complete and utter shame.

I'll admit to be curious as to "why now," but manning up and apologizing is admirable. However -- it was less than a month ago that there was needless wank and betrayal, that I saw at least, so I hope you can truly change your ways.

I'm sorry I'm not perfect.

You only know one side of that story. But I guess that's all you need.

[A] Never said you were. Never said I was. Never said anyone was. The "woe is me" response, however, seriously undercuts your apology above.

[B] If you want to explain your side, please, go right ahead, I'd like to hear it.

You're combining issues on me. My conflicts with my roommates and my conflicts with people at an old game.

I was genuinely hurt and confused by some of your actions toward the end of your time at Fandom High, so, thank you.

Making mistakes is easy, easier than not making them a lot of the time.

Standing up and admitting you've made them, taking responsibility, and apologizing is hard. And something that ought to be done a whole lot more frequently by many more people than it is.

So thank you.
