Apparently no one in this school is capable of going ten minutes without running into a wall or setting something on fire. Markus, dressed in black long-sleeved coveralls and matching mechanic style hat, is currently sweeping the glass from a broken window into a dustpan. Near him is his cart full of garbage bags, chemicals, box cutters, a ( Read more... )

Being one of very few non-humans at the school, Feferi's already got the rep for being a bit weird. She's known for doing things just because she feels like it. So her attempts to befriend the churlish, silent janitor are somewhat unsurprising.

Today, she happens to pass him while he's sweeping the debris from the window. With a wide smile, she heads over.

"Hello, Mr Markus. Busy day today, huh?"

Oh hey, the only student in the entire place he marginally likes, or to put it better, doesn't dislike with a fiery passion. He nods hospitably as he dumps the dustpan of glass into his garbage bin.

He points across the hall at two other taped up windows. It's been quite a day.

If trolls had eyebrows, Feferi's would be raised right now. That really is a lot of broken glass.

"Well, seems someone was busy here before you. I'm not sure why, though - I really doubt the windows did anything to whoever it was who broke them."

Pulling the cap off his head and running one hand through his matted hair, he shrugs. Who knows why kids did what they did. He replaces the hat and pulls out a roll of tape to tape up the remaining broken glass still in the window.

She continues to watch, not in any real hurry to leave just yet.

"Well, I'm sure once word gets out that it happened, that committee will find out who did it."

He nods. They'll probably beat the crap out of whoever did this, he hopes he gets to watch. He pulls off a few long strips of tape and hands them to her, then puts up a sheet of cardboard against the window to keep the glass in.

She happily keeps hold of the tape - unlike some, she doesn't consider herself "above" him, or anyone for that matter. And she likes doing nice things for her friends, which she considers Markus to be even if it's a little one-sided.

"Well, you've done an excellent job clearing it up. No getting injured by broken glass for anyone today."

Well, except for her if she continues to only pay the minimal of attention to where she stands in relation to said broken glass.

And that's one of the reasons he likes her. He retrieves the tape from her and securely tapes the cardboard in place. He adds a few more strips just in case and stands back to survey his work. Good deal.

He nods at her. He's also watching closely where she stands, ready to save her from certain glass doom if need be. He's wondering if he could somehow convince the Slendministrat0r to let him offer her a TA position or something so she could help him more often.

Feferi tilts her head, looking at the finished boarded-up window. "If it didn't make it so dark, I'd think it would be better to leave them like this. At least cardboard's not as big a deal to replace."

Never mind factors like rain destroying the windows every other week. That's for more practical minds than hers to consider.

He looks at her and shakes his head. That wouldn't be very secure for when the school was closed. The last thing they needed was people sneaking into the girls locker room before school started daily. Or people setting traps on teachers desks.

He pushes his cart to the next window and pulls out another piece of cardboard. He hands he cardboard to Feferi along with a pack of markers. Go ahead and knock yourself out kid. At least the hallway will be interesting.

Feferi shrugs as Markus shakes his head. "You're probably right. I mean, if cardboard made good windows we'd be using it already."

Her expression brightens considerably as he hands her the cardboard and markers. Using the nearby wall for balance, the cardboard is soon covered in drawings of her favourite thing: cuttlefish. Quite detailed sketches too, for something that'll only be around for a little while, but that's no reason to do a sloppy job, right?

He picks the pieces of glass out of the window, tossing them in his bin. When it's all clean he takes the newly adorned piece of cardboard and tapes it into place. He steps back and takes a look at it.

Cheerful. The cuttlefish don't look half bad. He gives her a thumbs up.

She smiles as Markus gives his approval of her work. Not that she especially needs the approval, but that doesn't mean she doesn't enjoy it when it happens.

"I'm glad you like it. Hopefully the other students will as well." Though to her mind, who couldn't like a picture of some cuttlefish?

He nods, even though the cardboard won't be up that long, it's better than a drab boring piece of beige. He glances at his watch and then looks up at her and points at the bell.

Almost time to get to class.

Feferi nods her understanding.

"You're right, I should probably go. Good luck with the windows."

And she's off, her usual ready spring in her step as she makes her way to her next class.
