[Haruhi really hasn't been doing much better. She feels quite a failure at being a good daughter. All her parents ever wanted was good grades, but the Doctor wanted, and deserved, so much more. She looks up from a notebook she's writing in stares at him]

[Stands inside the doorway awkwardly, hands in his pockets]

"Course I did."

[Shifts awkwardly]

"What, and just give up, just like that?"

I dunno. I thought you might be tired of it.

[Closes the door behind him. Might be an idea to move further into the room]

"I'm old, I've had more than enough of life to be able to deal with those things. Besides..." [Rubs eye awkwardly, his voice becoming more serious] "You only ran away because I screwed up first."
