[RP for savagestime]: The taking of tea, or: Do I dare disturb the universe?

The memory of the words old friend coming from the Master (John Smith..., no...the Master...) in regards to him was something he struggled to forget. It made an unsettling fondness ripple through him, every time they echoed in his mind, but they were still uttered by a confused mind, under the pretext of shared guilt, of mild duress as they both sought to resist Death. He couldn't think of the words as being a declaration of love and friendship so much as words borne of ignorance, of a corruption of memory. But for just the briefest of moments, he had his old friend once more, and as always, could not destroy him. It was the one thing he was fairly certain he could never bring himself to do.

The ensuing days had left him ruminating on nothing but the Master, and disturbingly, his dreams last night had been haunted with visions of things to come, of a different incarnation of the Master--younger-looking, more unhinged, more tragic. There was a war, the war he'd been dreaming of for months now. This Master had seen it. What the aftermath had brought to both of them, he couldn't be sure; the future only revealed itself to him in fragments.

The Doctor began to boil a pot of water, his thoughts focused more on his friend than on the task at hand, and stumbled against the countertop when the TARDIS shifted abruptly in the Vortex. He furrowed his brow, removing the kettle from the heat as he moved towards the console room.

"Well, that's odd..." The readout seemed normal, but something felt off to him. He glanced around curiously and waited a moment before going back to the Galley to finish steeping his tea.

roleplay: with the master
