There Comes a Time - Part Fourteen (14/14)

Dec 20, 2011 22:38

This ending is short, it took forever to write and it's a bit of a copout, but it's an ending, and it let me get started on the next part :)

Title: There Comes A Time
Author: luvspnl
Characters/Pairings: Sam/Jess, Dean, John, Adam, Ben, Lisa, OCs
Scenario: AU -ing my AU, Yes, I’ve hit that level of crazy, and know what? It’s fun!!
Summary: Dean’s seeing his brothers again, first time in years, whether he wants to or not.

P14
He was being childish.
No, because even his children were being better behaved then him at the moment.
Dean was, once again, locked in the guest room of Lisa Braeden's house. Downstairs, his sons Benny, the birthday boy, and Dylan, were happily playing along with their cousins, whatever their names were courtesy of big brother Nicholas and his wife, as were Dean's youngest brothers, Adam and Mattie.
And even Dad.
Dean wanted to be down there. Ben was getting through his birthday presents, Caleb and Dad giving each item the run through after Ben had ripped the wrappings off. Dylan and Nick's son were playing in the mess of papers, while the others looked on.
Soon, all of the boxes would be gone and Benny would see through the see-through table and spot Dean's gift, carefully placed on the floor beneath it. It was a guitar case, guitar included. It was a smaller version of Dean's back home. Mattie was more of a drummer, but Benny had taken after his Daddy, and that made Dean quite proud.
But Dean would completely miss the look of euphoria on his son's face that he had been envisioning for the past eight months since he had made the purchase.
And it wasn't just the gifts that Dean was missing out on. Because, it would be pretty hard to miss his brother's presence. Everyone else but the Winchesters was now home, and while that should bring a pleased, relaxed feeling onto him, Dean didn't know what he felt. But he wasn't relaxing.
Sam had missed him, that much was obvious. Nick was still an impatient, bossy jerk, but it seemed like his older brother missed him some too.
Dean certainly missed the hell out of the both of them. He should be down there, basking in their presence, their freaken return, but he was upstairs, in Lisa Braeden's guest room. With the crappy leafy comforters that she swore didn't count as flowers. And the almost matching curtains.
Alone.
But while Dean hated the arrangement, he also knew he wouldn't be leaving that night. Soon, Nick and Sam would take their family with them and leave. Then, would they ever contact him or Dad again? Dean wasn't actually sure. He wasn't giving them much of a reason to want to call or visit, or even write.
Dean would stay in that guest room, and he would hate himself the whole time.
END.
