[ his tone goes quiet, barely above a whisper ]

...I wasn't supposed to live until my sixteenth birthday.

Did I ever tell Rena that Gil and I are supposed to be the same age?

[ Quiet, and he stays that way for a good moment, collecting his thoughts, before he begins, bangs covering his eyes. ]

On my fifteenth birthday, during my Coming of Age ceremony, I was sent to the Abyss by a group of people. They said I had sinned and deserved to dwell where all sinister prisoners are. The Abyss isn't anything I'd ever wish on a person. There's... nightmares, there. Chains, danger... death. I was supposed to stay there. Remain there until I was either feasted on by what dwells there ... or die from starvation. [ a weak laugh ] Alice saved me and brought me back to my World. When that happened...

[She's at a loss for words as she mulls over what Oz just said. This meant that Oz was really supposed to be 26 now and that ten years of his life had passed without him knowing. Rena couldn't even begin to imagine how that must feel. Did that also mean that Ada was really younger than Oz? It was all so confusing.

Rena wants to help but...what can she do? She can't just give Oz those ten years back. She doesn't know what to do.]

O-oz I...I'm so sorry...I don't know what to say...

[ A small, awkward laugh, and he drags his hand through his hair. ]

Really. I've...accepted it. I can't change the past, but I can change the future all I want. As long as I'm here, the Abyss and Baskervilles can't touch me.

That is true...it's better to look forward then back at the past. It's good that Oz has chosen to look on the brighter side of things.

But...I still wish there was something I could do.
