The week in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico was without a doubt the best week of my life. Alyssa and I established a routine quickly: wake up, go to the pool, lay out, get drinks, go in and get ready for dinner, eat dinner with her family, meet up with our friends at the pool/hot tub, sit on our porch until around midnight, sleep. Amazing.
We had an interesting time with boys down there. The first night, I was out on the patio and this tan dark haired boy just starts talking to me from his balcony. Then he proceeds to ask if I have a friend, because another tan blond boy comes out on the balcony. They were 18. They asked us up to their room. We declined, then everything with them for the rest of the week was awkward hahah. Then we met Matt. We were walking up the steps to get to our room and Matt jogged up behind us and asked us if we were already done in the pool. We obviously said we would be in the pool later, since that might mean he would be down there. He was. He had a friend, Mark. We immediately made friends with them. They were the kind of people that you could be 100% comfortable with all the time, whether we were talking or sitting in silence. I don't run into people like that a lot where I'm from. The next couple of days were a lot of fun. We'd do stuff with Alyssa's family during the day, then meet up with the boys at night. At first, we were unsure of how we were going to pair up. One afternoon we met the boys on the beach and they were going hiking to Lover's Beach. We didn't know this entailed climbing a whollllllle lot of rocks. Halfway there, we see a cross on a rock, which means someone died there. That was really reassuring. But we made it there alive! Then it kind of fell into place that Matt and I were together. The second to last night, Matt and I went walking on the beach, then it really fell into place that we were together hahah. We got back to the hot tub and Mark had met a new girl, Jess, instead of getting with Alyssa, like we were planning. Jess was cool though, and like 20 minutes after this guy Steve started talking to Alyssa. Steve was hot hahah.
The six of us (Mark, Matt, Alyssa, me, Jessica, and Steve) formed a crew and we hung out for the rest of the trip. I miss those people. We were all from different places, but we never ran out of things to talk about, and we were just really comfortable with each other. It was such a breath of fresh air to meet these people. On the last night, Steve ends up telling Alyssa he wants to get back with his girlfriend. That kind of screwed her over, but we still had fun that night.
Every day back here in Maryland I miss Cabo so much. The people, the weather, the crazy nights, the beach, the pool, the swim up bar (!), everything. Mark, Matt, Alyssa, and I all exchanged contact information, and I've talked to the boys a lot since last week, but I still miss them.
I think Cabo really opened my eyes to the world. I mean, I rarely leave Maryland. It kind of exposed me to different people, a different culture, everything. It makes me want to get out of Maryland and get more than just a taste of the world. For now though, I'm stuck here.
I think next summer calls for another trip to Cabo!
