Tonight we beat the NQ Bahamut, pretty fun fight. But once again, I feel like the melee dependancy on Utsusemi has gotten way out of hand. Not being able to go to this fight as a DRG because I would have had to sub Ninja ruined for me what was going to be a high point of the game, something I've been looking forward to since before COP was even announced or anybody knew Bahamut would be in the game. Really guys at Squaresoft, the imbalance going on with the melee jobs has me more than riled. Why is a Dark Knight made out of paper? In classic lore, they were Knights, which meant they wore superheavy plate. Why are some jobs like Ninja and Red Mage so overpowered defensively, and jobs like Dragoon have practically nothing going on offensively or defensively? Having to sub Ninja because Utsu is a crutch is really annoying, they need to find ways to beef up all the melees before I get tired of this game. I am NOT going to take the high road and level a mage job just to feel like a first class citizen. Fuck that, I'd rather just move on to another game.

Yesterday I got my chain record. The last one was 24 on Decorative Weapons.

on bones in KRT with an LS party. We actually managed 64 twice, but every time thereafter, got cockblocked by Lemures-- lack of two hours, resistance of banish, etc-- so our other high chains in this PT were in the 40s and 50s.

We could have gotten more than 64 but the end of our chain always found us at Vrtra's gate, and we'd literally be out of mp and two hours and barely alive, and pretty much unable to pull the 65th from Vrtra's chamber without risking a wipe.
