[Narvin's in his own cabin instead of Kay's and *furious*. And speaking in Gallifreyan.]

Which one of you thought it would be funny to break into my room, go through my papers, and deface my copy of the Gallifrey constitution? ...Doctor? [The name has a Gallifreyan suffix added to indicate something in the past. In this case, he uses it to ( Read more... )

I might see my way to letting you have a look.

[He has no reason not to show Braxiatel, and in fact would rather like to discuss the edits with someone who was familiar with modern Gallifreyan politics. But there's also a part of him that wants to refuse the request simply for the pleasure of denying Braxiatel access to information. He hasn't yet decided whether pettiness will prevail or not.]

[Narvin tries not to remember. It doesn't work very well, especially not when Braxiatel insists on reminding him. He frowns.]

When I've translated it all, I'll let you know if I've rated it low enough clearance, Cardinal.

[If Brax is going to throw poison darts by bringing up Narvin's political dalliance with Darkel, then Narvin might as well bring up how they bested Brax (temporarily...probably, unless it was all a convoluted gambit, but Narvin prefers the simple interpretation) and ousted him from office.]

[Narvin's never become used to being called "Chancellor." In part because he doesn't much want to become to used to holding that title, that position. He avoids a startled blink, but only just. But it throws him off guard. That combined with Braxiatel's mien of superiority puts Narvin on edge.]

Yes. Well, make sure you remember that.

[It's a weak retort. Even at the best of times Narvin doesn't have the gravitas to pull off a phrase like that well. And off-balance as he is, it's hardly his most worthy attempt.]
