(Let's get the sane post out of the way first, shall we?)
cadragongirl came to stay with me again last weekend! There was much rejoicing. There was also a condition attached to her use of my floor space: she would have to watch the first episode of the Japanese Hana Kimi.
Of course, I saw no reason to inform her of that beforehand.
Thursday some of us had gone to see The Pirates of Penzance at MIT. It was much fun, and we stuck around to say hi to
mistyivy and gush about the costumes (which were fantastic!). The Pirates of Penzance is a favorite of M’s, so we went early on Saturday and scored tickets to the final performance. We enjoyed it very much, although (being the expert that she is) she complained that the guns weren’t cocked. I laughed at her for being picky and forced her to listen to HMS Pinafore when we got back to The Garret. I had Penzance stuck in my head for the rest of the weekend. Luckily I have the Kevin Kline and Linda Ronstadt recording to help me with that.
Somehow I actually finished both my papers too.
I do not understand why Linda Ronstadt suddenly bursts out with “Sorry Her Lot” in the middle of the second half of Penzance, though. I really do not. Can anybody explain this to me?
The Other Paper roundup:
I think I kind of love Disastrous Proposal scenes. Pride & Prejudice. The Lamplighter. The Perilous Gard. Is there no end to the hilarity?
Of course, then TPG goes all genuinely emotional, but creepily as all hell. And the creepiest thing about the creepy way it does that is that it’s STILL REALLY ROMANTIC, OKAY?
In other news, The Wide, Wide World is the creepiest thing I've ever read.
