Ugh. I hate that Gwen was the one sit with Jack during this time and gave no one else a chance.

Nice use of the prompt. Great little story.

Yeah my heart wasn't really in this story. I found it really difficulIt to comfort Gwen as I think she was being incredibly selfish and should have just gone home to her boyfriend and given the others chance to grieve properly.
What I really wanted to do was explore Ianto's emotions as he cried into Jack's coat but that wouldn't have fitted the prompt so well.
One to come back to later I feel...

Screw following the prompts. Write the story. I want to know what was going inside Ianto's head at that moment too.

I second that! Here's an icon for inspiration. :)

Putting aside my whole irritation at this scene in general, I like what you've done here. It's nice to think Owen and Gwen's relationship matured into some sort of friendship, and that he's trying to reach out his own awkward way. There's so little of that in Torchwood, at least on screen. Part of me waned him to order her to go home, but I understand why he didn't. He's struggling with overwhelming grief himself, and actually trying to be nice.

Thanks.
I think there is a lot left unsaid about Gwen and Owen's relationship.
And I know Owen has got a heart buried deep inside somewhere so he would comfort her despite his own pain and guilt.

Nicely written, and some interesting interraction between Owen and Gwen.

I have to admit that scene still grates on me. Gwen practically destroys the world to get Rhys back, then as soon as he's alive, she abandons him to sit with Jack like some grieving widow. She wouldn't let the others near and they all knew him better and longer than she did. I still feel bad for Ianto, hugging Jack's coat and grieving because Gwen was taking his rightful place at Jack's side.

Thank you.
That scene is so annoying. It is just so wrong.
I will write a companion piece from Ianto's point of view when I get chance.

I'll look forward to reading it, when you get around to it.

I still struggle to write Gwen and I know I couldn't be as fair to her as you have been in this, so kudos! I find it hard to write Gwen as someone I can tolerate, but I'm trying.
