Zack had quietly left their shared inn room, leaving the two ladies sleeping in their beds, as he made his way through the building and out into the street. They'd arrived at Rocket Town via chocobo late the night before. The sight of the once small town had caused the SOLDIER's eyes to widen as he sighted how large it was now. Still, it hadn't been until the daytime that Zack had been able to get a good look at the place, and he had to say that they'd done a pretty amazing thing with it.
Ever since the incident at Costa, Zack had begun taking his Buster Sword with him where ever he went. He wouldn't let himself be caught off guard in such a way again. It had almost cost both Aerith and Yuna their lives, and he knew that he wouldn't be able to live with himself if anything happened to either of them.
The street around him was empty, not surprisingly considering that the sun was barely rising, and for that the SOLDIER was glad. His worry and concern over Cloud's health and whereabouts had only grown since the Costa events, and none of them had been able to find any clues to their friend's location. It worried him more than anything else, and it was because of that worry that Zack couldn't sit still. He had to do something, find something, that would give them an indication to where their friend was.
There was nothing to go on, and he felt the frustration and anxiety beginning to take root deep within. So Zack did the only thing he could think of to try and dispel it. He went jogging. It was a mindless task, and the SOLDIER found himself falling right into it as he began to jog around the streets of Rocket Town. Every time he had to stop to wait for traffic to bypass him, the SOLDIER would begin doing squats before he'd be back on his way. It was much like a maze, with the street design, and hearing the airships near-silently flying over the town only seemed to make the entire ordeal more surreal.
It was easy for him to get lost, both within the windy streets of the city and deep within his thoughts. He didn't know what else they could do to help them find any information about Cloud, and Zack knew that travelling by chocobo would take up too much precious time. Every moment longer they took going from place to place the trail of their friend grew colder. He couldn't let that happen, and as he continued his jog around the city, Zack found himself slowly down as his attention flickered up to regard another airship flying over the top of the city.
He stood there in the middle of the street thoughtfully watching the machine as it passed over, and found his eyes narrowing subtly. If they had an airship, then searching for Cloud would not only be easier, but much faster as well. The ground they could cover alone was enough to get the SOLDIER thinking into areas his mind shouldn't be going, but as soon as the idea struck, Zack found himself unable to think in other areas.
No... it was a stupid idea...
But no matter how much he tried to convince himself otherwise, Zack's mind continually strayed back to the idea of making off with a small airship. Shaking his head, the SOLDIER began his jogging again, but instead of trying to work off his frustration and anxiety, Zack was now trying to put some distance between himself and that idea.
It was still battling with his mind as Zack weaved his way back through the streets and found himself jogging back towards the inn. More people were beginning to filter out onto the streets now, but Zack's thoughts was fixated on that one idea to even take much notice of them. Zack didn't know how long he'd been out jogging, but the morning light was much stronger now and filtering through the buildings and over-passing airships. His heartbeat had hardly even picked up in speed by the time he'd begun to slow his approach.
