Oh, I did love this! Neros_violin got it right with the intimacy comment. That's what you captured, and that's so hard to do without descending into schmaltz. You got it absolutely right.

And Jared will owe him big time for the auction rescue, but that hasn't happened yet, so I'm glad he's being all forgiving here.

And one more thing; I totally agree about manners in relationships. Sod that 'love never means having to say you're sorry' crap. Sorry is so important, when it's sincerely meant.

Lovely and heartfelt and I absolutely love this line, because I completely believe it's true: That they hadn’t gotten comfortable to the point of foregoing courtesy and manners. That they hadn’t gone so far as to forget about each other’s feelings, whether they were hurt or not.
