I was wondering, does anyone know any good ways of stopping colds from spreading and helping people get better if they catch a cold? Besides just getting lots of rest.

There are a few things that you can do to treat and prevent colds, but how useful it all is depends on what exactly you have available. Everyone's suggestions so far are good... except not Denmark's.
In order to prevent it, you need to keep the person somewhat out of contact from others, so the illness and germs do not spread. You can't share food with them, and if they sneeze, watch out for what they touch. They should have some kind of handkerchief with them, or they should just try to sneeze into their arm. Not their hands though. Also know that colds can last up to a week, so this is all good to keep in mind for about seven days, maybe a few more.
For treatment... bed rest, drinking lots of fluid, keeping the person warm and bundled up... ah, especially while they sleep, warm soup... those are all good things to use to treat a cold, other then regular medicine of course.
I REPLIED TO THE WRONG PLACEtimeforzzzzDecember 4 2009, 00:46:21 UTC
Everyone was really helpful! What was wrong with Denmark-san's suggestion?
[Okay, we've already been kinda failing at the "out of contact" thing but] I'll try and find them a handkerchief! And they've already been getting lots of bed rest... Okay! I'll do all that! [Taking notes!]
They were! But... I don't know what any of the things Denmark was saying had to do with treating colds. It's nothing I've ever heard of. Maybe that's how countries treat their colds.
Good, and if you can't find one, you can always just make one. A small scrap of clean cloth should be fine. It needs to be washed often though. ...has Fay not gotten better yet? I know you live with him, but if you say "them" and "they've", I wonder who else is sick.
I-It's okay, you don't have to thank me~. I don't care~. [Muffles his mouth while he says something about not being happy and you being an idiot but just ignore that.] It's winter and a lot of people get sick around this time, so it's good for people to know what to do for colds and the flu.

If your economy is healthy, you will be too!
Um, I think Fay-san is feeling a little better now, but Kurogane-san recently started feeling sick too... He says he's fine, but I wanted to make sure anyway. Syaoran-kun and I are fine, but Hikari-chan, Fay-san and Kurogane-san have all gotten sick already!
So can I just smile amusedly?bokuwadoctaaaDecember 4 2009, 05:31:51 UTC
I, I don't... I'm healthy so, I guess my economy is healthy, whatever that is-? Is it part of the body? But I've never heard of it.
Then, all the things I said to do for colds, you should do with Kurogane and Hikari, but keep an eye on Fay also. It wouldn't be good for him to get sick all over again. You and Syaoran be careful while you're taking care of them. If you need any help, you can ask me, especially since I'm living in Horton for a while, in room 310. If they don't get any better, I can get medicine like the kind I gave Fay.
No, but I may permit an upside down frown.timeforzzzzDecember 4 2009, 06:31:03 UTC
Your economy is your trade and exports and things like that.
I'll make them all soup! I'll make sure to stay warm and clean too like everyone said, so I don't sick too. Thank you very much! Oh, and welcome to Horton!
