It was strange. He'd been told he'd been in Gaia before and that he'd met Zack but he didn't remember that at all. No, Cloud could vividly remember the last time he saw Zack. It was the most painful moment in his life. Far worse than any other wound he'd ever taken. It still hurt and, if it wasn't for the fact that Shelke was him, he wasn't sure he'd have been able to hold it together.
Really, he was twenty four, sure, but he was certainly behind on development, at least emotionally. Four years in a mako tube, a year in a catatonic-like state, all that time spent with Zack's memories instead of his own... yeah, it was safe to say Cloud still wasn't entirely sure who "Cloud Strife" was anymore. He was working on it, though.
Shelke at his side, he led the nine year old through Treno, one hand resting around her shoulders to keep her safe. All the Deepground and Tsviet training in the world wouldn't have let Cloud release her to walk alone here. It was full of criminals and she was a target.
As they approached the Auction House, his eyes went wide and Cloud forced himself to hold back the tears as he spotted Zack. Both swords in his sheath, both the First Tsurugi and the Buster Sword (which he planned to give to Denzel), Cloud took a short breath in as they neared the black-haired man.
"...Z-Zack." His voice was quiet and distant, as if he wasn't sure this was really him.
